dwellufool
I'd rather have 20 quests of decent story than 40, nearly half of which are "Do this thing for every city" (i.e. Oblivion.) The game's fun, and has a lot to offer, it's just a more casual experience for those who let it be. I can never get this gripe because I RP all of my characters. Some do a guild's quest and are dedicated to them, doing other side quests along the way the fit that character. Also, rule of the thumb, don't walk into mainstream gaming expecting anything above okay in story. It's not something we can get from it, primarily because it doesn't sell as well as generic easy-going games.
Shantih
It's only natural to get bored with a game when you've spent too much time playing it. The best thing is probably to take a break and play other games until it comes back to you. I can never get this gripe because I RP all of my characters. Some do a guild's quest and are dedicated to them, doing other side quests along the way the fit that character. Not so long ago people were upset by the fact that a single character couldn't do every quests in FNV. I personally never liked the idea that any single character could belong to every guilds in the Elder Scrolls. My way to cope with this is to RP like you do and come up with different character concepts. If you start thinking of your character as a real character (like in a movie or a book) then it becomes a rewarding experience. If you're only playing your character's stats then the non linearity of the game will sooner or later make you lose focus and interest in the game. Kinda agree, I like Skyrim but there's no way I will put in the hours that I did on Morrowind or even Oblivion. As someone else said before the compass arrow has just dumbed down the whole game, I want to have to read quest descriptions again and actually look at who I am attacking. To me Skyrim is just a huge game of 'Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla quest dialogue' Now where's the arrow pointing, lets follow it until I just finish the quest. Seems really dumbed down from older ES games and I am not even gonna get started on how similar character creation is. Bring back major and minor skills please Bethesda. Sickens me how they turned the ES into fallout :( Every skill starting the same... Perks on level up.... Followers..... Need I go on? Dont get me wrong I liked fallout as much as the next guy but I want my old Elder Scrolls back dammit!!! The compass is not something new in Skyrim... You make it sound as if Oblivion didn't have one. I have to say that contrary to what you're saying you don't have to use the compass and fast click through dialogues. You can choose not to mark a quest so no arrow will show up on your compass so if you choose to have the marker in order to rush through the "Bla" part (your word) then it's your choice to make and you can't really blame the game for that. Also on the subject of borrowing from Fallout (3), if you think that Skyrim has more in common with Fallout than TES it only means that you've never played the original Fallout. I remember people saying Fallout 3 was Oblivion with Guns and there was some truth to it. I can imagine someone saying that Skyrim is like Fallout (3) with swords and if we choose to ignore the fact that there are swords in Fallout 3 then it's just another way of saying that Skyrim is like Oblivion. Of course Fallout 3 didn't have such a bad level scaling or levelling system and it didn't require mods like Francesco's so badly. That being said I'm pretty sure someone will come up with mods for Skyrim that will give random bandits glass or daedric armours and weapons and will restrict levelling up to class skills. All that is needed is to wait for the Creation Kit and be patient.
darthsloth74
Actually despite the games shortcomings, I'm actually enjoying it now. Thats due to the fact that I'm making my own models and importing them, which has really increased the enjoyment for me. Putting your own personal stamp on the game helps a lot. :) I have high hopes that gameplay problems will be sorted by mod authors when the CK comes out. Despite numerous issues with Skyrim at least it serves as a good foundation to mod.
Cyrotek
Just do the mainquest till near the end and just do all those other quests.I got instantly bored with my first character also after i finished the mainquest, with my actual one iam above lvl 50 and didnt finished the mainquest yet. Didnt even really startet the DB or Thiefsguild quests ... but slowly it gets a bit repetitive because most quests just need you to run into some dungeon till the end, kill the boss/get a item and run back to the questgiver. Boring after a while. I really expectet more from the quests (why bethesda isnt learning from mistakes?).Had to do a full respec (from mage into fighter) to keep myself interestet. But hey, at least its one of the few games the past years, that i played longer than like 2 days ... ok, 3 games exactly. Dragon Age, League of Legends and Skyrim. Cant wait for the CK. Oh, and get the deadly dragon mod (hard version). Alduin will probaly wipe the floor with you. Edited January 3, 2012 by Cyrotek
gantech
So please, a little advice for me. While I'm waiting for the CK should I play Obvlion or Fallout 3? I've put 200 hours into Skyrim
Matth85
While I'm waiting for the CK should I play Obvlion or Fallout 3?Tried Daggerfall? You should really try it. It's quite confusing at start, but a real star in the TES series. How I both hate and love that game! It actually got a class system so you can "build" a character, and min/max. Otherwise, I'd say it's a fair choice between Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Both are great games. I enjoyed Fallout slightly more though.
Alithinos
Maybe go play Call of Duty or some other game better suited to your tastes? Why come here, to a fan site, to complain about your boredom? Don't you have anything less boring to do?Stop right there troll scum!Nobody trolls on my thread. Who told you that I like Call of Duty ?Do you make up things for people that easy when you are not in the internet too ?I write some specific features of the game that needed more work.I like the game's genre and lore but when something is done WRONG I will not lie and say it's ok.The game is unbalanced and some parts of it (many) feel like needed more time and work.If you believe you are the game yourself, so when somebody does criticism on it you feel insulted, 'cause you think you are one with the game,go visit a psychiatrist.gtfoh! BCbrad
Would be cool if you could have a change of heart quest, not happy you installed the empire in Skyrim, assist in the rebuilding of the rebellion and rise the Stormcloaks to their glory. Versly, see the blasphomy of Talos worship? Join the Thalmor and move the imperial reinforcements into Skyrim to wipe out the Stormcloak scum. forgematara
I logged about a 1000 hours in morrowind.I think I absolutely hate skyrim. The tipping point was a simple encounter.I was tired of how quickly the main quest was progressing and how beloved/powerful I felt just 40 minutes into the game, so I took off running north to make my way to the mages college to find some spells.I found the farm where the owner complains of cicero standing in the road with a broken wagon and asks for my help.I go and talk to cicero and decide he's an insuferable prick. I won't do the farmer's bidding and report him, i'd rather kill cicero.Surprise! he's invincible! so is the guard who saw it happen!

Providing constructive criticism about specific things in the game that you think should be changed is one thing. There are already hundreds of threads bemoaning the perceived faults of Skyrim. I just find the whole "I cannot play this game at all!" response to be lame and over the top. Edited January 4, 2012 by CalibanX
