raensleyar
I did a search on the forums for such a request already, but didn't find anything. It would be great if the player character actually spoke. Not necessarily full dialogue for all the quests, but a few random statements or sayings so that s/he doesn't seem to be a mute. You'd have to have male and female voices and probably different ones for gruff, soft, etc. styling so that you didn't have a waif of a thief speaking in a heavy, barbarian's voice. Either way, it would be a neat addition, I think.
otis0310
This is a great idea, and I support whole heartedly. Unfortunately it is notthe least way feasible. I really wish it could be implemented, but I think we are dreaming here.
JMMcNemo
Oh, it may be doable, but it will probably require the tools in the CK. Oblivion had boatloads of mods that achieved this end (thank heavens, the female "AAAHHH!" was enough to make me want to punch my monitor), and although Skyrim's engine is different in places, there may be something to build from. PsxMeUP
If it can be done properly, then yes. But I've never heard any decent community-made voices. They're always unprofessional.
nosisab
That's the reason the games which gives the main character voice limit the character type at max male/female ... and at most would allow freedom at choosing the first name (aka something Shepard someone?)... most don't allow even this, right Gerard? I'm against random voice at heart, this would become annoying quickly. Race plus gender engineered voices could do but in this case the reason it was not implemented from start is due to sheer amount of work involved. NPCs are limited in what they have to say but the main character is another story. BUT, that applies to Bethesda not to mods and then, yes, I'd love to have it "after" some kind of headtraking is provided, the character would look yet more dumb than already looks when staring the void while passionately engaged in a hot talking with someone. Anyway, anyone who try it must be aware the immense work involved and be good at performing different characters or have a good team of voice actors for support. JMMcNemo
Hang on, let's make sure we're not talking at cross purposes: Raensleyar, exactly how much detail in the voices did you mean? Do you want an alternative to the "Ugh", "Oof", "AAAHHH!", etc., that is in the game now, or do you want full voice acting for all the comments and questions the player character says during the course of the game? *I* thought you meant the former.
