genolune
Since you all seem to be devoted followers of Atom, I thought I would post this here after a discussion with MaesterAelix. Your ideas are always useful. Balancing issues are something I want to work out. What would you want in the end? What is your vision of the Children of the Atom for the vanilla game only? What about vanilla plus Far Harbor since that adds more but requires the Far Harbor DLC? For the Children of Atom Overhaul:How do you think things currently feel? How is the immersion? I want to replace the beacon with Children of Atom being naturally recruited with a regular beacon at their settlements so that it is less immersion breaking and cheaty (since you can just summon 20 settlers right away with a beacon). I've also made a lot of changes since uploading it so I don't remember all I had in it.I'm always interested in lore (as well as potential quest breaking) to make things feel more like they are naturally apart of the game (except for minor issues like voice acting, etc.). It's why I discarded 3 possible settlement ideas. I usually look at things in game and also read the Fallout wiki. My end goal with the mod is that it should feel like it is part of the base game instead of a mod.Do you have any experience with Blender, Gimp or the Creation Kit? Would you want to start learning them? I would definitely like drawings and screenshots of your settlements. Currently I have permission to add Emissary of Wind's T-60 Power Armor Paint Children of Atom Zealot and for Far Harbor users, Neagoe's fix for the Marine boots and mm137's glowing Zealot paint for the Marine armor. I tested a merged archive so the boot fix and glowing zealot paint work are compatible and work together.
Ethreon
Is this settlement related, or general faction ideas?
genolune
Currently, I have 3 settlements (Crater of Atom, Crater House in Salem, and Jalbert Brothers Disposal), and tweaking Kingsport Lighthouse to recruit Children of Atom. You can give both settlement and faction ideas, Ethreon since you are the constructible object wizard.
MaesterAelix
I have an idea for immersion: use the regular settler beacon, but also make a building/vendor/stall/thing that has a CoA assigned to it, that will 'convert' the settler to a CoA. Lets say it takes like 24 hours to convert them. Once they are done they get the proper robes and stuff look. Since it can only 'convert' 1 at a time, it keeps things somewhat under control. And then there are special versions of stuff "CoA glowing fungus" "CoA Brainfungus" etc Can only be worked by a CoA converted settler. Perhaps an irradiated water pump, etc. CoA glowing/brain fungus' can provide food for the settlement.I see that you have been dealing with faction tags to make things friendly/unfriendly towards you - so perhaps the conversion station adds the tag to the people - and only people with the tag can use it? Ethreon
I insta had an unrealistic idea when reading the title - a preacher. Fully voiced, with 1-2h long sermons, that could be hired once and put on a specially designed podium (I can make that), where it would do his/her job. Brings Atom's word as well as happiness. genolune
@Ethreon Maybe for Far Harbor that's possible using Confessor Tektus's voice dialogue to give speeches every now and then. I know that radiation barrels with glowing green or orange ooze coming out of it would be a welcome addition if you knew how to make them. @MaesterAelix Atom's Blessing Perk That has already been done and I am waiting for permission to incorporate it. If not, I'll try my best to make it.I was thinking that in the Children of Atom settlements, Atom's messages are broadcast so the people that come are already Children of Atom. Plus Children of Atom NPCs have a custom spell to make them immune to radiation. I don't know if a regular settler would last 24 hours in radiated areas or if the conversion is possible. They are also semi-hostile to outsiders, which I am attempting to fix and smooth over at Kingsport Lighthouse and Crater House because why attack a potential convert before they've even said hello? Even the "peaceful" ones are a bit sharp on the tongue.
MaesterAelix
Well, since the broadcast is Atom's message - that makes plenty of sense. There are CoA out there already - so no reason why they wont be attracted to your new settlements.
genolune
Good news is I solved the beacon and work dialogue issues. Now a Child of Atom that speaks (subtitles), voices, and lip synchs settler dialogue will be recruited. Bad news is I have to look through some files to see if I have one where I didn't hose the location reference tab at the Crater House. I think that's what causes the Error: Strings something or another on some of my save files. My location data is messed up so the save doesn't know what name to put as the location. If push comes to shove, I can always redo the file from scratch, which won't take that long considering I know more about what I'm doing than when I first started using the file. Ethreon
Also churches to come with your mod. The base game offers a variety of modules, and I can offer some more if you need.
MaesterAelix
How about a podium, where you assign a settler or someone, where they speak for a bit and generate happiness. ave them start speaking a little before 'quitting time' and last a good hour or two, Place a few chairs in front - and make it so that for everybody that sits and listens, the happiness goes up more?
