SwampyTroll
I like the lore of video games, really, I do. But the thing is, games also need to progress in advancements if they insist on moving on in years. That's why I really like Fable... It's moving forward without skipping over too much in the weapons department.
JMMcNemo
I know, right? It's been two hundred years since Oblivion and NO ONE has come up with better ways of doing stuff? All these alchemists all over the place and no one invents a chemical to preserve wood better? Dwarven ruins are left, right, and center but NO ONE has reverse engineered even a simple clock? People can shoot fire and ice from their fingertips but there's nothing resembling a stove or a refrigerator. I'm sorry, but this is a nation of stupid people. sainen
I wouldn't worry about it.If someone does decide to make a firearm like a flintlock pistol.. people will find a way to copy that in a similar fashion but change it into something entirely different LIKE a regular pistol for example.Although I do not fully support this.. it's half-half for me because this does break the lore completely..a book in daggerfall(Elder Scrolls II around 230 years ago) implies that cannons exist, so it doesn't completely break the lore. This is the only lore issue I have. We see no technological improvements. Not even building methods have changed. And what's worse is that there's a need for stronger, more high-powered weapons now that the dragons have come back.
IkarosCORE
If anything, there seems to be a degradation in Skyrim. Clothes don't look as clean as in oblivion. Same with houses and furniture. Sure it could be a regional difference, but considering my bed is now hay and pelts on a wooden frame, rather than silky sheets...well...

I want flintlocks at least, I think it's time, but I also think... when Rome fell the rest of civilization plummeted into the dark ages. Took what, roughly 1000 years for any significant change? I want flintlocks at least, I think it's time, but I also think... when Rome fell the rest of civilization plummeted into the dark ages. Took what, roughly 1000 years for any significant change?Yes and no.Did the world improve immediately? No. But were there still improvements to things within the world? Yes. Hell, firearms started being really being used right after the Dark Ages. That means between that expanse of time, something had to improve. And people today assume that everything was bad in the 1000 year gap. That's not really the truth, though. Keep in mind, the Dark Ages and Renaissance overlap. I just think this is the one area Bethesda really slipped up. All it takes is one genius mind to make a great invention (read up on Leonardo da Vinci). So yeah, this really isn't Lore-breaking. It's advancement. It's what a "society" needs. Otherwise, you could say that nothing has improved over the course of the Elder Scrolls series. Gamingsage5
Really the whole idea of a flintlock pistol or musket in the game would be an interesting idea; it's still the fact that the game really doesn't have any animation that supports guns, and I know some would try and replace the bow animation and put a gun on it but it still looks horribly animated.
