masternoxx
Win7 64 crash on exit. I know this is related to the video settings being saved in an INI file. I have googled it and even tested it myself. It may be related to mod organizer, which I use, but I don't think so. I believe I had this problem on a fresh install with no mods, mod organizer or anything. So yesterday I changed the video settings and turned on anti aliasing and some other distance adjustments and then exited, and it crashed. When I restarted the game, it had not saved my video changes. Then I changed it again and this time it did not crash on exit. Of course then it had saved my settings. So it does not crash every time which is odd. About 90% of the time though. There are some suggestions on google to modify your oblivion.ini file but they do not work for this problem. Has anyone figured this out? Its just an annoyance of course because the game still works fine otherwise, and the error does not happen until you completely exit the game. Still I would like to figure this out thanks. I have looked a lot on google search with no luck.
Surilindur
Oblivion Stutter Remover has a FastExit feature that avoids the crash. I am not sure how it affects the saving of settings, but at least you could give it a try and see if it helps? Maybe? You can try the latest version of OSR, the 4.1.37 one, even though it is not the first one in the downloads section. Since you are using Mod Organizer, you need to manually install all OBSE plugins. Hopefully that helps a bit. Edited December 29, 2016 by Contrathetix
TheMastersSon
When you say you still have the problem with a fresh install, does that include a new game, or are you reloading a prior one after the reinstall? Also make sure you first move or delete Oblivion's user folder (in \MyDocuments\MyGames\etc) before reinstalling. We had this problem fairly consistently (about half the time) until we reverted two settings in oblivion.ini to their defaults: iPreloadSizeLimit=26214400bUseHardDriveCache=0 Not a single crash since, with the exact same 10+ year-old savegames.
