Getting NMM to install

Do you already have NMM installed? I'm a bit confused by your question because you don't install NMM for each game, you simply install NMM then have it scan for the games you have that it can recognize, then select the game you want it to actually manage at that moment.

Check to see if you have NMM somewhere on your drive. It should be somewhere along C:/program files/nexus mod manager/ or similar. If so, click the NexusClient executable to get it running. If this is the first time it runs, you should see something like this:

When you see all the games that you want managed by NMM have a green check mark under them, click each check mark then click "OK".

If you've already scanned (or after you've clicked "OK" above) you should see something like this:

You should see all the games you clicked the green check mark on listed. If your game isn't listed, but you know you have it properly installed, click "Rescan Installed Games" then watch the scan closely (looks like the first image above) to see if you can spot your game. If so, click the green check mark and then "OK". You should now see your game on the list from the second image above.

Now click on the game you currently want to manage:

Then click "OK" again.

NMM should open up with the game you selected:

You can click on the "Plugins" tab to insure that the game (and any DLC) are indeed loaded into NMM:

Go back to the "Mods" tab and begin installing mods from your drive (if you've already manually downloaded them) or simply click the "install with NMM" button on each mod page. Personally, I prefer manual installs.

Hope this helps.

no this is the first time I am installing it on my current computer. and I do all of that and after I select the game I want manager to handle I get a massage about like setting or checking file locations (something like that), and after I say that it seems ok I get the message and manager goes back to needing me to tell it to manage Skyrim SE.

Okay. Moving on to troubleshooting.

Try re-installing NMM. Make sure you have Admin permission during the install process. While you're at it, make sure you currently HAVE Admin rights overall. NOT having Admin rights can lead to all sorts of stops while trying to run programs.

When you try to run NMM (again) -if it has the same issue, try temporarily disabling your A/V and see if it that helps. If so, you need to tweak your A/V to stop interfering with NMM. Now this is an old issue that has largely gone away with the newer versions of NMM, but it can't hurt to investigate.

Are you running NMM on one drive, but have your Steam folder in another? Sometimes this can cause NMM to lose track of your games. (Not often, but it happened more often in the past with earlier versions.) Try re-installing NMM on the same drive as your Steam.

Make sure your .NET frameworks are up-to-date.

Good luck!
