[Project] Nuka World Settlements, few questions

Hi everybody!

I’ve started to create a mod, for personal purposes first, but it might be useful for some people. So I decided to release it when it will be mature.

This mod adds some settlements to Nuka World which is (for me) the big lack of the NW DLC. I know there exists mods to add workshops everywhere like Conquest (and it’s really awesome) but I want to define clear and nice settlements with scrapable objects, anchor and snap points to build walls, etc…

So I have some ideas about locations. I want to add a settlements in or near each park.

  • Nuka-Town - Fizze Grille (Interior and Exterior): This settlement will work like [FizzShop Grille - Fizztop Grille Workshop] The player will be able to build inside and outside the Fizze Grille with two linked workshop. So containers are shared between the two workshop.
  • Dry Rock Gluch – Mad Mulligan’s mine: There is a great place near the end of the roller coaster. That involve some landscape modifications but it can be a safe place for a small settlement.
  • Safari-Adventure – Cappy’s Treehouse: A wonderful location with an awesome point of view.
  • NukaWorld – Northpoint Reservoir: It could be great to build a settlement on the dam
  • NukaWorld – Island: Island on the center near Nuka-Town.

- Do you have ideas/suggestions about where to add settlements in other parks? Galactic Zone and Kiddie Kingdom?

Or some other interesting place in Nuka World?

- There will be at least 6 new different settlements. In your opinion, what is the best practice?

  • Create 6 different plugins for each settlement. People can only download interesting settlements. So they can reduce potential conflicts with other mods that modified some cells. But if you want all the settlements you have to load all the plugins...
  • Create 1 plugin called Nuka World Settlements that includes all settlements.

Sorry for my bad english… Thanks for taking the time to read me.

I would be happy to see such a mod, Nuka World is my favorite area, love it`s landscapes.

i don`t really care what area as long as it has some space to buid my custom houses and some nice landscapes around. I acually love the area around the park even more than some certain parks.

In the Kiddie kingDom - the Castle with it`s towers.

Not sure about the Galactic Zone.

I`d get all 6 in one plugin.

Good luck with this work!

I would get one out.

Then, when all the kinks are out, do another. Iron out the kinks, do another. Etc etc etc.

When they are all done, do a compilation.

...then work out allll the kinks again. =P

Edit: If it's still not clear, there *will* be kinks...and they will be different for each settlement.

Edit2: I mean, 1 file page is easier to support, for sure.

Nice central location for complaining (your users *and* yourself both when a bug comes up). But, in my opinion, it gets too big to quickly troubleshoot anything.

Can you either a) hold off on that one or b) PM me and we can work together? I've already started fixing up the main street of Dry Rock Gulch into a Western themed settlement so I would like for our mods to be compatible. Better yet, I'll pm you.

Thanks for replies

@kitcat81: The Kiddie Kingdow Castle is a great place. Probably a lot of work involved, thanks for the suggestion.

@BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah: If i understand right, you suggest me to create 1 plugin / settlement.

For example i will have:

NWS - Mulligan's Mine

NWS - Fizze Grille (maybe include work by Joeyyx)

NWS - Northpoint Reservoir

So i can easily update features and track bugs on each settlement. But later i'm free to create a compilation like:

Nuka World Settlements - All settlements

It's a very light way to do it, but i'm wondering about performance issues ? Is it really a good practice because i'm going to duplicate scripts or custom objects definitions on each .esp. There is no way to merge multiple esp in one ?

But it worth pointing out that it's a great way to collaborate with other modders and include already existing mods. I don't know how teams works on mods because it's not possible to use version control merging tools on ESPs.

I'm not enough experienced with the creation kit and Fallout 4 modding to take a decision, so here i require your help.

@genolune: omg the DRG center, that seems awesome ! For sure, i sent you an answer. So here is the zone i'm interested in.

I sent you a message back. The only issue I can think of besides what I PM'd you is that the Saloon has it's own cell and therefore location, etc. data for settlements, though I could compromise there. Maybe I should also see if Gaming4Life want's to contribute the arcade and house there to the project. Project: Dry Rock Gulch sounds like a good name.

I would suggest the area that the Hubologists come from. There is a diner, a few abandoned farms, a large size pond and a few buildings. It is in a pretty desolate place near the Grandchester Mystery Mansion.

Another place would be the Nuka World marketplace. You would need some way to putting in water and food (I used a planter mod to put down dirt in square boxes and you can put a water pump on top of that).

If a method that ever comes up to make settlements work properly in Nukaworld without breaking anything, I've already made a quest safe settlement out of the Hubologist camp, but however due to things breaking in game when building settlements in the wilderness areas, I haven't release it yet. Perhaps someday someone will figure out the proper method to get them working, as of yet, I still haven't seen one that works, including speedynl's method.

Thank you for your feedbacks.

I will try the workflow suggested by @BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah, it's more easy to manage.

So i think i will start working on things that doesn't exists on Nexus like Northpoint Reservoir or Nuka world Island.

About Dry Rock Gluch, @genolune already works on a nice settlement project.

In a second time i have the idea to contact other modders which work on Nuka World settlements to create a package of High quality and inter-compatible mods.
