aibaoya
Just got Wyre Bash and TES5Edit to solve my CTD problems. Everything in Wyre Bash is green, I had to remove a red mod which is now obsolete because it's included with MNC which I also have. But my save relies on the obsolete mod. I wanna get everything green so I can no longer deal with constant CTD issues. But I can't load my save without it. Is there a way to edit my save to be able to load it without the red mod? I installed it early on in my game, so I can't roll back my save back to level 3. Also, could deleting a bunch of old saves help prevent crashes? Happy New Year. Kroekr
You can try http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5031/? after removing the red mod. Concerning old save deletion, I THINK I remember seeing where a lot of saves will cause performance issues but I don't know for sure. Doubt it would hurt. Doubt it would hurt.I've removed the mod, but I'm still getting CTD on load. Also get a message saying "Skyrim has stopped working" when I quit to desktop. Doesn't appear when I CTD. I've tried safetyload, wyre bash + TES5edit obviously, my load order is fine because I don't crash after the Bethesda intro, tried LOOT and SKSE memory patch. Sometimes it loads fine, sometimes I have to run the game a number of times to load up my save. It seems random. I do have a heavy load order, is there even a way to perma fix CTD or is it just something that happens unavoidably with Skyrim mods? I'm heavily debating whether to re install and only add a few mods to see. Or just uninstall a bunch of mods and somehow continue from my current save. Could it be because windows 10? I don't know, it just seems impossible to fix.

I bet it's something simple like mods being installed in a bad order.
Algabar
Don't mean to discourage you or something, but uninstalling mods in the middle of a playthrough IS dangerous. Skyrim can (and sometimes will) act very strange. Just to give you an example: I recently was testing a new collection of mods for a new playthrough (wanted to have something different...). I merged some follower mods into one esp. Normally not something considered as extremely dangerous. Result: I'm unable to load my save, which contained some of the merged followers as single esps... Things like this can happen with only a few mods installed, but OFC are more likely to happen with a large load order. That said, I wouldn't uninstall mods I want to keep that easily. The big problem seems to be that you can't load your save game without a mod you don't want anymore. This makes using a Save Game Cleaner extremely difficult. If you could load and save your game without the mod in question, applying a save game cleaner would be rather simple. What you can try (if you haven't alread): Use the "Resaver" tool linked above. Find the mod you want to remove. Clean everything related to that mod - and pray to Talos that you will be able to load your game afterwards. If that fails, I only see two possible solutions: Continue your current game with the unwanted mod - or start a new game with only the mods you really want. I've gotten to the point where I have to load my game twice to play without any CTD's. That's pretty well done, right? Considering I have like 50 odd ESPs. I would like to uninstall body change, I don't need it because I only like 1 body mod. But if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I have no idea about this Skyrim has stopped working issue. Only other thread I could find had no replies... so maybe we could try and find the solution? I'm thinking either mods installed in the wrong order, or something to do with nVidia GPU or Windows 10. Do you have either? Also, when it happens do you have an outlined rectangle in the corner of your screen in front of a black screen? Just trying to see if we're on the same page. Kroekr
I have been away from the game for a while (several days) and have not CTD'd lately. I don't know about the OP, but I think I may have that rectangle and I do have an nVidia GeForce GTX960. Do I need to float test it?
twiztedmongoloid
Removing mods mid playthrough is a NO NO. Mods are permanently baked into your save. You run risk of corrupting your save and creating an unstable enviroment by removing mods mid playthrough. Make sure your load order is 100% set (as in all mods you want.....AND stable meaning good performance and minimal or no ctds) BEFORE you start a new game. I do extensive testing while setting up my mod list and also a ton of thought goes into what i install. Nothing is installed simply because ( it looks cool). If you do decide to remove mods then a new game is advised. You can choose to ignore this advice.......but thats how it is. BTW 50 esps is not a lot. Also if you follow sound modding principles ( if you have to ask what these are then you likely arent) it is VERY possible to have quite a few mods and a stable game. My games rarely CTD and you can view the link in my sig to see my mod list.
