Manipulating NPC's inventory.

Is there a mod/script that allows to change NPC's loadout?

For example I want give some armor and weapons to Grup and gulp traders

(they get killed if Legion shows up)

I know there is a mod that adds defence to the place but that defence is useless.

Two guards and a turret get killed too.I need some good protection there.

 

There used to be a mod called:show your inventory but I cant find it.

The only problem with openteammatecontainer is it doesn't show unplayable weapons and armour which could keep the NPC from equipping the new ones, companions have this problem, in that case use inv to get the Base ID's and removeitem to remove the unplayable items, be careful though, sometimes things are unplayable for a reason, they're quest related ect.

you could always open the geck, then go to the Grab and gulp cell, either add specific items to their inventory or a list plus add defenses around the site.

 

you can make copies of the quest items, rename them to something you will remember, uncheck the quest item box and save making a new form so the vanilla quest item is still available and in game.

You just need a new strategy ... the devs didn't make un playable scenario's.

Nah, a Legion hit squad (or maybe the NCR equivalent as well if you're on their bad side) spawns right by them. They're just traders and otherwise pretty inconsequential, but since the Legion is hostile to them, they get slaughtered pretty much as quick as both them and their assailants come into view. The Legion guys are leveled to the player so they're pretty much bullet sponges.

 

I'd probably pretty much agree with you if it was a quest, or if the op was looking to have them as added defense for the player, but this happens a lot and it looks more like the devs didn't think it through than anything else.
