inconsistent password policy between thenexusforums and skynexus

Hi,

Just joined tonight and encountered problems with passwords.

I created this account on thenexusforums. The initial password was quite complex, 17 characters long and

used lowercase, numerics and non alpha characters (eg, &, @ etc...)

This was allowed in thenexusforums but I was unable to login to skyrim nexus until I dumbed down the password.

Is this a known issue ?

Thanks

Garry

ps, can't wait to get some mods for Skyrim. 200hours+ and counting

The forums will accept it, but not the file sites. Those other characters are forbidden and won't be accepted.

Letters ans numbers only.

It's a disconnect in the underlying programs that manage those respective sections of the Sites. While I'm not one of the Admins who may have looked into it, I believe that if it were fixable by us it would have been. So I presume it's hard-coded into things.

I never understood password prompts that require you to use letters and numbers, yet denied the ability to use extended characters.

What if I wanted my password to be:

ThisIsAGreatPassword12345<ALT>123<ALT>456<ALT>789

(That last part is: {Lj̕ on windows)

Probably the better question is why do the Nexus sites use a different password encryption scheme than the forums? Surely IP.Board is using a standard encryption library call?
