Kroekr
Even in vanilla, I have a FPS of mid 30's to low 50's. I realize I have an old system but I was wondering if there are any suggestions/settings I could make. I do plan on upgrading but it will take several months before I can. Since I am on a fixed income I was wondering where I should start first. goranpaa
Hi. Stick to 1 and 2K mods as much as possible. Stuff like mountains and bigger objects try to get 1K versions for those. Also try this trick with the tree animations: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/2xjjut/help_how_do_you_disable_tree_sway/ This is a very helpful ini. setting tool: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4875/? Set the godrays to low or disable them. And set shadows to medium. Edited January 5, 2017 by goranpaa
Kroekr
Thanks for the information. I will see how this works. Any suggestions for the GPU?
goranpaa
You're welcome. Well, with that processor I think that the best choise is what you allready have if your GTX 960 is the 4 gb version that is? If you get an I5 or i7 processor + a cpu socket compatible motherboard for it. You will have a lot more choises for a better gpu. ( A GTX 1070 for example ). Though the GTX 960 is'nt a bad midrange gaming gpu in any way. The Intel processors, will also remove any bottleneck present for the GTX 960. Asus and Gigabyte have some nice Intel motherboards btw. deadblood01
CPU definitely bethesda games always taxes CPU the most so better CPU = better performance. GPU is Fine for Skyrim SE i'm running Asus gtx 960 4gb and my frames are also fine.
