Hi all im a bit new to the CK but i got mos tof the basics down, there is one thing that irks me tho and that is if it's possible to snap object placed in the ck, together, eith building peices ect. In a similiar way that you do it ingame?

I'm new to CK as well, so there may be a better answer than what I'm offering, but it seems rare to get responses on this forum.

There's a snap to grid button on the main window that will move objects according to certain grid coordinates. So if you plop something down, have "snap to grid" enabled, and then hold down Shift and Q, and then click on the object you just laid down, the rest of the objects you place will orient to that object, which I think is as close to snapping like in-game as it gets in the CK.

Also, if I may offer some advice, learn the hotkeys and shortcut commands. They will save you tons of time and make moving things much easier.

Useful ones for building are the Shift + Q, which orients objects to the chosen object
Hold down Z lets you move objects up and down
Ctrl + D duplicates objects

Lateraliss is right about the snap to grid. You can also adjust how big the grid is. The default was 16 units when I started, switched it to 8 for finer placement (have seen at 1 in couple videos). It still wont just pop into place like in game but allows you to slide them into place on same grid. The best vids I watched to learn were from nukamage.

Thanks for all the answers, i seem to have gotten hang of things for now. ihave another issue tho, is there away to "mirror" objects? :smile:

For micro rotation an positioning you need to,

 

  1. turn snap to grid and angle off,
  2. open the form window for the object you want to edit
  3. go to the 3D tab
  4. you will see the x,y,z for position on the left and the x,y.z for rotation on the right. Where you will see numbers for each.
  5. To the right of each number you will see an increment box which (if the snap to grid and angle is off) defaults to "1" unit.
  6. leave the number as "1" unit or change it to any thing you want, (You can set it as low as ".01" unit) and click the up/down arrows to adjust the orientation/rotation you want.

By the way, if you want to rotate a bunch of things at the same time, but on their own individual axis' and not as one big thing, I think it was alt+rightclick+drag (but it could have been ctrl+rightclick+drag).

 

(I think that's what was meant by "mirror")
