nodgree
Looking at 3 different Radeon HD vid cards. The HD 6750, HD 6770 and HD 6790. I just bought New Vegas and Skyrim and want to be able to play them on high video settings with a decent frame rate. I am upgrading from a GT 210 so I know any of these will be an improvement, Some other information.:My gaming rig is a Pentium Dual core E6500 @ 2.9GHZ with 4GB of ram and a OCZ Vertex II SSD just for my games and OS.I generally play in window mode at 1280x720 resolution because I tend to jump out of game a lot.... I'm leaning towards the HD 6750 due to the low price BUT, if this isnt going to get the job done I will spend more for the better of the 3. Any feedback or experience with these cards would be appreciated!
PowderdToastMan
If your gonna go with a discontinued model i.e. the 6000 series, i would go with a 6970, 6950, or a 6850; not the 67xx. the 7000 series are out now. hoofhearted4
im guessing hes going with the lower end of the 6000 series because hes not able or willing to put in the hundreds for a 7000 of a high end 6000 series. i say get the 6770. only because its in the middle. youll spend a little more then the cheapest, but wont be spending more to go with the expensive. and youll get what you want. I was thinking the 6770, just needed some feedback on its performance. Money is tight right now with 2 kids under the age of 5, lol. I wanted to grab an Nvidia GTX 460 but that would mean almost $250.
hoofhearted4
yup. and that basically throws out the 7000 series of GPUs! however, i mean there is only a $20 difference between the 6770 and the 6790. since your on a budget and have to go with the lower end cards, i would say go with the 6790. spend your limit. get the best you can afford because its all you can get. will you notice a real difference between the two? i doubt it. a few FPS and yea. but at a $20 difference, why not? spend the tiny bit extra, get the best of the worst so to speak. nodgree
One other quick question... I'm running a Dynex (generic Best Buy) 400w power supply. Will this be sufficient to power the Radeon HD card without too much strain?
hoofhearted4
yea you should be all set.

RitualBlack
I would be careful with the power supply. The AMD site says for a single 6790: '500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended'. I am not sure if it would work out properly so it may not be a good idea to test it out, especially if you don't want to risk blowing out your current power supply. I would recommend holding on to your money for just a bit longer. The graphics card could drop down in price even more and you could get a proper power supply for the new card. It would be a huge bummer if you put the new card in and something went wrong. Good luck with it and have fun  . Sorry to be a bit of a downer here but I would just hate for you to spend the money if there is a chance that it wouldn't work.
