Let's Reminisce...1 Year Ago...

I agree. I would buy Skyrim, even knowing there would be problems. I started playing computer games back when dungeon walls were square. Anyone know or remember Bard's Tale. Like the man said above, once you've played these games once, that was it. You could play the game again, but there would be nothing new. We have come along way in a very short time. Now, we have wide open realistic worlds in high resolution, with more options of what may happen in any one game. Not only that, games are being made that can be modified by the user. Like I've said before, if Bethseda would give us a stable core world and stable tools to modify that world, we, the users, would make Skyrim come alive. I think game will last a long time. That is with almost 450 hours into the game according to Steam. (Umm, on a side note, is anyone else uncomfortable with the fact that Steam records the number of hours you play a game?)

I kind of was seeing I already had LOADS of hours into the game after a week or two, being an addict and all... but it isn't pure game time. The clock starts ticking the moment you open Skyrim to when you close it, if you alt-tab in between and don't play for a few hours, those hours still count as played.

edit: dayum, I've already got 497 hours in the game.

Spoil Sport. I liked the idea I had almost 450 hours into the game. Oh, well, the bottom line being, I've put a lot of enjoyable hours into the game already, and plan to put in a whole lot more before I'm done.

Hehe, the reason why I have so many hours in the game is because I'm stuck at home (got problems with my balance organ (or however it's named in English) and other stuff making it unable to work), so I have all the time in the world to play games. Can't do much more than sit down, because walking feels like I'm drunk :\

That sucks. I have all the time in the world as well, but that's just because everyone is making homework and I seem to have absolutely no work to do :/

Spoil sport?

Just joking. I thought I had actually played all those hours. I do know that at least once in the last month, I've had a little bird outside my window, let me know that I had played all night. I like this game and this community with which I share it.

Well I would think its far more than .0000001% (not exact quote) that would say No. I am close to saying no myself, but I know from the community here and now my shoddy creation kit skills myself, that it can and will infact be improved. As it stands now, Skyrim is not a RPG in my eyes. Killing Floor has just about as much RPG aspect to it as Skyrim.

Skyrim is however an amazing basis for a RPG. The environment is better than any game ive ever seen and that alone outshines the bulk of games made since the dawn of the era. Then the physical movement of creatures, characters, and cloth and what not in game is highly accurate, with the obvious flaws, but still very very good, and that makes the possabilities even greater. The storyline is good, but its kept shallow, it needs to be fleshed out, and the game needs severe balancing and more immersion.

So yea I would buy it again knowing what I know now. But I also fully intend to see;

The completion of a nicely hidden and cleaned up UI for immersion

Need to eat and drink, as well as negative effects of alchol and drug use. Preferably with addiction that extends to potions as well

Rebalance of creatures and enemies, as well as item distribution. Would much rather see bandits going from Iron to Iron (fine), Iron (exquisite) and such instead of jumping iron to steel to orcish and so on.

Either a reduction in the strengths of alchemy, enchanting, and smithing, or a severe increase to enemies when those are leveled to make up for it. I dont want a game to get easier at higher level, I want it to stay a challenge, every fight, if its 1 v1 or 8 v 1 it should be tooth and nail to the end.

Either way, Skyrim with DLCs and mods will be amazing, I just feel sorry for those people who are too stubborn to swap from console to PC to experience the greatness a game can become with loving attention.

The music in the game isn't as good as the music in the trailer. No female vocals in the background. I was really disappointed because I think the music in the trailer is just awesome.

I am really happy that they brought back one of the Morrowind tunes almost unchanged and use it for town music.

I think it is funny watching the trailer and seeing how it shows parts of the plot that are not in the final game, and shows animations and graphics that are not in the final game. The trailer is basically a work of machinima, and not a truthful advertisement.

It is a really impressive trailer and a really impressive game though. I bet that if I had never played Morrowind and Oblivion, I would think that Skyrim was the most awesome thing ever.

Being an extremely hardcore Bethesda Game Studios and Elder Scrolls fanboy...

I think that the GOTY were a bit too quick to hand out. Dues Ex Human Revolution was a truly wonderful game. but I think people are getting sick of linear RPG's...
