Scalp texture bugged

I've got a strange problem with the scalp textures coming out blurred, creating a seam along the top of the head and messing up short hair cuts. It's most noticeable just above the ear and goes all the way around the head, and down the back of the neck.

 

I've uninstalled all mods and validated all files. The problem persists. I've deleted a couple of different texture files and redownloaded them but again the problem persists.

 

Does anybody know where exactly to look to fix this? A general direction or a specific file would be helpful.

I've got a 37 inch monitor and even on that size I can't see anything out of the ordinary, besides some slight smudges, because the pic is too small...

 

First things to look at is what mods you've added recently that alter skin textures and some such...

Sorry about the image size. The original was too large to attach so I reduced the size.

 

Here's another with a different hair style at 1200x675. The seam is visible along the forehead.

 

I haven't added any texture mods recently and even with all mods disabled and freshly installed textures and meshes the problem is still there. Plus I've validated the files to make sure nothing has been deleted.

 

Do you think the problem lies with the textures or the meshes?
