Hes not trying to bring you down electro, hes more like warning you. Its not legit but idk if bethesda would go after you, probably not. But the site that you are uploading to may have its own terms of use, so its whatevs. I think you will be fine, just dont say your taking money for mods? plenty of modders have patron accounts. but their very established and have a fanbases. Make the mod then make a patron ?

You are allowed to accept donations. You just cant offer them. Also yes i am just trying to warn you. Bethesda will come and have your mod removed if they find out.

Is this a prank?

No... It doesn't come across as one

Maybe not but still the "money must be involved" is very strong in this. Which, I feel like is not at all what nexus is about

Yes the Nexus is not about making money. Also the site rules are quite clear on this subject.

I assume Electrocactus is used to the art world where you have a lot more freedom to make money on what you make.

I guess.

This is a new thing for me too, I just wanted to add my stuff to the game, so the people who keeps asking me to do that, can play.

Adding my models would be cool and people could have fun with them, but it is not my priority. That's why I went to crowd funding, so I don't need to sacrifice anything, except my time.

Perhaps I did not think it over or approached it a bit wrong, sorry.

I duno what more to say here. It is, what it is...

I think the misunderstanding here is, Electrocactus does not want to make money from the mod, he is willing to pay someone else to animate the model, perhaps texture it and turn it into a esp and then offer the mod here for free. The part where it might get illegal is to ask for donations to pay those artists to make the mod possible.

If what Qwertyzeldar is saying is true and the EULA goes so far as to prohibit any kind of money involved in anyway with a mod, i would not be alowed to, for example:

Pay a commercial 3d artist to make a mesh model of artwork of my own creation, then pay another artist to texture it, pay someone to turn those Meshes and textures into a working mod and then put the mod up for free download!?

As far as i can see with limited legal knowledge, the rules only apply to making money in any way or illegal use of any Bethesda copyrighted assets and making money from the mod itself. They do not apply paying someone for custom meshes, textures, animations and creating the mod, then offering it for free to everyone, which is the case/question here.

If so, in an extreme case Bethesda could state and sue that the Nexus is illegal because they are asking money for premium accounts, and perhaps even making a profit of those, for better/faster acces to mods made with Bethesda owned assets, unless they have a legal agreement.

no you cannot do that.

they dont allow money transferring hands at all for the mod creation process.

the membership on this site is separate from the mods. the Nexus doesnt make the mods it hosts them, they are not affected by the rule on profits by Bethesda as long as the mods are free to access and not behind a pay wall.

also you are allowed to accept donations you just can't offer them and the Nexus has asked for permission from Bethesda to allow authors to ask for donations on their mod pages.

Gilibran, You nailed it.

All I am asking is a support form the same people, who keeps writing me, to add everything I make, as mod.

As I stated before, I do not need the money, I make a good living, working in a successful game studio and have my own businesses to run. Basically, I provide my own artwork, where I have put in 100+ hours in, for free. All the donations go to other people, for there work. In the end, I get the most important thing for me: my assets in game. Users get content for free.

In my mind, this was a win win situation for everyone.

There are ways to get around it, set up a youtube channel then just make the patron focused on that. While just uploading info and showcases of your mods. Plenty of modders do that. Elianora does somthing similar, and i know more do.

-For paying people you dont even have to do that at all really; im sure there is a few modders out there looking to get into a new project. Also you can look for similar mods that your were planing to make and join them, share assests and skills.
