kibblesticks
I've searched everywhere but I cannot find a tutorial on rigging a custom creature to an existing skeleton using Blender anywhere. But there are dozens of custom creature mods so where are the mod authors getting their info? I went through every page on search for "custom creature" but I didn't find anything. I know it's possible because I've done it in the past, I just can't remember how, or what tutorial I used. If anyone can help me find a tutorial for rigging my custom models to existing creature skeletons in Blender I'd be really really grateful. Thanks. Ghogiel
'custom creature' is usually used to refer to a new rig and animation set, as well as just simply a creature mesh. Any 'custom creature' tutorials probably wouldn't cover simple skinning the mesh, it would just be assumed you did so, and would focus on skeleton export/setup and animation export and set up. If you just want to rig it to an existing skeleton, any tutorial for rigging in general would do. If you wanted something more specific to BGS games, anything specific to skinning clothing or body for F3/Ob would basically be an identical workflow, assuming it isn't horribly out of date. the only thing that would be different for skyrim is the post export nifskope magic, and that's quite simple, even when you have to convert/transfer stuff from a F3 version nif to a skyrim one. and there are a load of tutorials for that, even the 3ds max ones 80% of the tutorial is the nifskope magic, which would be pretty much the same thing. edit: just realised this is the F3 mod forums  Edited January 13, 2012 by Ghogiel
kibblesticks
Thanks Ghogiel! I wasn't aware of the distinction between custom and skinning. I must have followed a clothing tutorial in the past then, that's good to know  Edit: I was going to give you kudos but I think I already K'd you for helping me with a problem in the past so thanks again!
