Low FPS; Only in Specific Areas

Hello, Nexus Forums. Just writing you today about my FPS issues with certain areas of the game.

To start, here are my PC's Specs:

AMD Phenom II x4 (Quad Core), 2.8 Ghz

8 GB RAM

Windows 7 64-bit

nVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti, 1 GB

Let me start by saying that the issue was resolved after Skyrim had been patched to a patch that was in the 1.2.x line (I think) and after patching again, it had returned.

Anyhow, on to the issue here. When I first installed and ran Skyrim, it suggested I use High settings. That's cool and I was very happy I could run that. So I load up the game and everything plays smooth, around 30-40 FPS, I'd guess. However, when entering the first "dungeon" (the building that you exit Helgen through) I experience severe FPS drops. I'd estimate anywhere between 10 and 20 FPS inside of the tower, but only in certain parts of the tower.

This also occurs in many dungeons, but not all dungeons, such as Ilinalta's Deep and it also occurs inside the Ragged Flagon. However, some dungeons run as smooth as can be and the overworld and towns (minus Markarth and Riften) run at at least 30 FPS. In Markarth I only experience a little drop, maybe 5 FPS. I experience the same small FPS drop in the Rift and also Riften itself, but it's minor.

My big issue is the FPS drop in the dungeons. Any ideas?

I know mods that might help.

Try TESV-AL: http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4387

And Sky Boost: http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6058

You need Script Dragon and SKSE for them.

Script Dragon- http://alexander.sannybuilder.com/?category=other&altname=skyrim_script_dragon

SKSE- http://skse.silverlock.org/

Also read the install instructions in the readme.txt files, or in the mod description.

Your card is quite a bit better than mine, and I could run ultra smoothly if not for the ENBseries taking my fps down. This is probably some kind of bug rather than an actual performance problem. Just my thoughts.
