blazingakatosh
I think you missed the point of the discussion. I was going to get into the topic but wouldn't it end in the same outcome?

Syntax1985
The damage is done, and the impact we would leave is so great the world would die anyway. heavy populated areas like big cities etc., would be full of left over food, perfect breeding ground for animals to stuff they're faces and slowly become naive on how to survive in the wild. there are already so many animals that have adapted to survive off humans, with us gone, that would increase. our giant wooden spoons have already stirred the "balance" of nature to the point is ridiculous, take the UK for example, here the largest populations of animals are, cats and dogs. predators. and with so little prey its only a matter of time before the cycle is broken and that's all that's left, until they die out. And that's not to mention the animals we have moved out of they're natural habitat to all over the world for our own personal enjoyment ( exotic pets, zoos, sanctuary's etc ). The same goes for plant life. with GM's so widely used, they have a huge advantage over other natural plant life in the area. what chance of survival does a blade of grass have over a genetically modified grain seed ? none. so again, so many plant life forms would be destroyed, cutting off food for certain insects and small mammals, lowering the food for the larger predators. The list is endless, purified water we have used to feed animals and wildlife will be gone, large reservoir's would become stagnant and full of disease, illnesses caused from our own "playing the hands of gods" ( mad cows disease etc ) would annihilate entire country's of life. Humans have truly become the keepers of the earth. with what we've done to it, it would die without us, mother nature is gone. The funny thing is, am i right? well, that's one we'll never know lol. link99912
Well, it's hard to say... Without the ristriction of human life another force of intelligence might develop it self amoungst the primmates. Theres a chimp that knows over 3,000 english words, which is a fine example of how an animal would slowly become smarter until it eventually dominated some one like us. Wovles, dogs, dolphins, ect would definitly not go to power. Although they are intelligent, they have no aposable thumbs, so they'd need to go through a lot of evolution before making it to the point where they could actually take over. Dogs would never have been formed if humans didn't exist, but if humans just disapered, then they'd probably adapt and hunt in make shift packs. 8 below is a great example of this. Wolves would go on living as they once had... Some bears would starve... Populations of cod would over flow, I'm guessing a lot of animals that eat cod would flurish from this as well. The population of jungle animals would increase greatly... The Earth would be slightly colder. Animals may look a lot more like there examples on the galapagos islands, as humans would have never disturbed them. There's a lot of things we effect as the most intelligent life forms on the planet, and things such as bacteria would even be different, imagine a totally different common cold, it would have changed so that it would infect... Oh say... Hamsters, instead. And hamsters would live in the desert. And dogs wouldn't exist!

Lip
If we became extinct the most likely animal to take over from us would be Apes...Gorillas etc. After all we DID originate from them and they are still quite similar to us. I believe they would be the new real inhabitants of earth. It would be awesome if Lions were the new rulers though :P Aslan rules :D
XanAlderon
Has anyone heard of the city (somewhere) that was abandoned (for some reason) and now its covered in plantlife and animals? As you can see I'm a little sketchy on the details.
