Does anyone know the location/file name of ground cover?

I used to live in Strigno, Italy. I currently live in the Northern US and, I don't remember ever seeing the grass as brown as it is in Skyrim(unless it's the seed stalks).

I'd like to fix this to be more immersive for myself, but I can't seem to be able to find the textures for the ground cover and LoD textures if there are any. What/where would said texture be saved as?

That'll be landscape textures if you're talking about Tamriel worldspace, Whiterun worldspace has them baked into the ground mesh filepaths.

Open up the landscape editor by pressing the H key and you'll see the landscape textures for the cell you're currently looking at listed there i.e. LTundra01, Ltundra01NoGrass etc. This won't work for WhiterunWorld as I say because there is no terrain its all ground meshes you'd have to load each individual mesh into NIfskope and look up the hardcoded filepath for each texture. Once you have the names of the textures you can look for them in the BSA's and extract them if need be i.e. tundra01.dds etc.

If you swap all the terrain textures you'll have to change the matching LOD textures too or you'll get abrupt colour change where the Ugrids terminate, I'm not sure about LOD's but they're just large meshes so you'd probably as mentioned load one of the large .BTR terrain lod meshes into NIfskope and look up its textures there.

n.b. if decide you want to edit landscapes intead of simply replacing textures it can be fiddly as each cell is divided into four quadrants and each quadrant only allows I think 6 textures maximum exceed that number and it'll simply paint black textures. You'll have to delete one texture usually the least used and replace it with yours, be careful at quadrant and cell boundaries as you'll get mismatched seams where textures change abruptly if they get replaced. Like I say, its fiddly.

Who ever said modding was easy lol.
