Sorry, back again, but my latest character just went through the Greybeards' ceremony where they all shout together at the dragonborn, and after the ceremony you can ask Arngeir more about it. If you've just read this thread and listen to his story, there's something oddly suggestive about the way he says Talos too had this ceremony performed on him before becoming emperor.

The Argonians are the children of the Hist, and have absolutely no relationship to Dragons. The similarities in appearance (Being reptillian and all) are purely superficial.

that edit was just an attempt on irony... ahh, yes, I recon it as a weak joke attempt :)

This is actually very interesting. I can totally see a mod that lets the player try to take the throne based on his abilities as a Dovahkin. Regardless of whether or not the creators intended for the Dohvahkin to be a descendant of the septims, it gives him a very good claim. Hmm... maybe he could start by replacing Ulfric as leader of the Stormcloacks...

It's not like Ulfric has any more claim by birthright, does he? His claim to fame and the throne is by beating the emperor in combat, right? Some say murdered. Either way, I'm quite certain my Dovakiin could defeat him in a shouting debate.

My Dovakiin is starting to consider rebuilding the Blades back to their old glory as protectors of the emperor/dragonborn, and guess who that would be.

Hmm, Usually they tend to avoid this for the sake of lore, though from a purely hypothetical standpoint He could make claim to either the throne of the emperor, or the throne of the high king. In the Civil war it's obvious that both sides have been in a long stalemate until the PC came along with his abilities. A lot of people like to point out that the Dragonborn wouldn't make much of a difference when they're referencing him in arguments for or against different possible aspects of the game. But here we have irrefutable, lore related proof, that the dragon born is capable of making a large impact on the battlefield. Either through His/her own prowess, or the fact that his legendary status makes him a rallying point for others. So it wouldn't be that hard to believe that the dragonborn could quickly raise an army to any cause he chose to follow.

And barring that I'd like to point out two experiences from my own playthrough that argue greatly in favor of the PC not even needing an army in the first place.

1. During a quest to take over a fort I decided to use my storm call shout ability to help thin out the opposing faction faster so I could complete the quest in a shorter amount of time. 3 minutes later i'm laying in a field of bodies clutching my companion's crispity crackity corpse, a companion who I might add was decked out in armor specifically designed to absorb huge amounts of elemental and general damage. And I know for a personal fact that the armor was massively OP due to the fact that I was wearing a set with the exact same stats that turned the roaring breath of an ancient dragon into a slight tickling from a butterfly's wings. On master difficulty.

2. accidentally (cannot stress that part enough) I swiped a bowl in front of a contingent of riften guards. even though I imediatly dropped the bowl they still came at me with their combined might, so, having had quite enough of the retarded A.I.'s unforgiving nature. I proceeded to put a sword in every chest, and an arrow in every knee. It took me all of five minutes to kill 20 people with one sword. And I know there was 20 because I counted all the almost neatly piled bodies ((took on the entire group at once)) didn't even have a scratch on me.

And for those of you who are curious about this kind of thing. This is a 100 percent legit character who is level 81. Everything they have I put on them through hard work and effort.Which means any Dovahkin could grow to be that titanically powerful. So It is abundantly obvious that should the Dovahkin decide to make a run for the throne, there's little on Akatosh's green Nirn that could stop him from doing so.

But a single barred door would put the mightest dovakin out of business. Just put a log over his houses door, and hes imprisoned for good.

A sneak attack from Karliah would also kill him as shown in the thieves guild quest, and Astrid (as long she lives) could also just kill him in his sleep. While playing one can get the impression of having become an unbeatable super-entity, I doubt this is the case - lore wise.

as to the first one, In a gameplay sense this is true. But from a lore sense the dovahkin could probably just blow down the entire side of his house like it was nothing just by yawning a little too hard.

As to the second one, It's kind of become apparent that the Dark Brotherhood is a bit off in the head. They know their mark has killed 100's of creatures and people of great skill, yet their answer to assassinating him is to rush him in broad daylight with a dagger. What that approach lacks in subtlety it makes up for in sheer testicular fortitude, but still. Not exactly the best way to go about taking on a highly skilled warrior.

Indeed, especially as Astrid is capable of capturing you and bring you to different shack while you are asleep. Could have just as well tossed you of some mountain cliff. But I suppose this are just the typical game mechanics.

Ulfric killed the High King of Skyrim, not the Emperor. The Dragonborn/Assassin has that privilage. As for Ulfric's legitimacy when he claims the throne, he's a Jarl by birthright, which means he has a legitimate claim to the throne of the High King, so long as the Moot agrees. Of course, when he actually announced that he'll wait for a moot he's already replaced all but one Jarl with his own supporters, and the one remaining Jarl swears fealty to him to save her own life so the Moot is nothing but a formality.

In terms of the Imperial Dragonthrone, Ulfric has no more claim than the Dragonborn.

As for the Blades, as much as i hate Delphine and Esbern for thier traditionalist, narrow sighted Dragon-Hate, the Blades usually did a much better job than the new guys...
