Sepherose
Anyone successfully tried preventing scans using something like sandboxie? You can actually do it using windows firewall, but it can cause issue with updating or purchasing. The commands for Origin to scan your HD is comming from their server, not the program itself. You can block all incoming and outgoing connections for Origin through windows firewall and simply exempt it when you want to purchase something or update a game through Origin. AFAIK, this is perfectly legal, if that is not the case, I'll promptly edit my post when informed unless a moderator decides to do so for me. JimboUK
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/experienced-points/9359-Dear-Origin-You-Stink Some interesting thoughts on Origin, this time with little mention of the data mining. Tair
This is the kind of corporate interest move that makes me consider canceling my pre-order. Just wanted to voice my appreciation for some of the recent posts regarding ways to restrict Origin's activity. I'm not a Windows-savvy guy; I strictly use Windows for gaming and the remainder of my HD is encrypted. Thanks again. Going to keep a close eye on this thread.
