alerossi82
Hello everybody, apparently, I can not activate the console command in Oblivion. In fact, when I press the \ button (next to 1, under ESC and above TAB - should be the correct one), nothing pops-up. I checked in the Oblivion. ini file to check if the command bAllowConsole was properly set to 1 but, apparently, this command is missing and I have no idea why. I read sometimes the console generates problems with Vista, but I have win 7 installed so this should not be the case. Can somebody help me? alerossi82
Add the line to the ini? Hi, thank you for your answer. Yes, I thought the same but I`m afraid to mess up the file; could you please tell me where exactly I need to add the line?

nosisab
Was reported at the time that infrared option turned on in the motherboard being responsible for it happening also. If is the case and you don't use it, try disabling.

NOT to the Oblivion_default.ini file in the Oblivion directory! The Obivion_default.ini file should NEVER be altered.

You are right, there is another .ini file located in the documents folder, much longer than the one in C:/Oblivion.Unfortunately, I noticed that in this file the command bAllowConsole is already set to 1, but the console doesn't work anyway - any idea why? nosisab
Verify if you have Infrared control active (many motherboards has it and is activated deactivated on it's boot time setup). The same in Windows. Not sure if is your case but that control active is known to cause the issue. Of course you may want to verify your keyboard Layout against the standard US. Although looks like you are trying the correct key, your keyboard layout may be yet more unique than most. Edit: I remember have seen mods which brings the console by mean of spell or something alike for these cases of non US standard keyboards, search "console" at TESnexus mods page, there are many there, one should help you. DavinaJo
I too have this problem however this motherboard is too new (read bought 2015) secondly of all it's effecting not just oblivion but all my Bethesda Titles Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout New Vegas all of them have their consoles disabled real pain in the butt, my only recourse will have to be a nuke and pave. since i doubt i'll find a infrared option on this mother board (Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 ). PS all my games are on a secondary hard disk that is partitioned.
