7FFF00
So, I decided I'd finally get around to updating my drivers, since I was having some audio issues on my laptop with headphones. I go and update my graphic drivers, I decide to test my favorite games to make sure they work, I start with Fallout and regardless of if I run it out of Steam or FOMM, it gets stuck in an infinite loop of, 'small command window -> vanish, reappear and vanish again'. This got me terribly worried at first, but I noticed after much uninstalling and installing of different versions of the same drivers that fallout will only run for some reason, when I revert to my computer's default graphic drivers, which is unfortunate because it ends up meaning the games I've actually been playing currently haven't been as smooth. Just to note, I am using fose and I am quite positive it shouldn't be related to my load orders, since as long as I'm using my old drivers the game runs perfectly fine. If it helps I'm playing on these specsHP Pavilion g4 1125dx NotebookAMD M880G / ATI Mobility Radeon HD 42502.6 ghz Dual Core4GB RAM The only thing I can think of is that it's purely Fallout's fault, and though I haven't been playing it as of late, I would very much like to know I have the option of playing it whenever I'd wished. M48A5
It is not the fault of Fallout3, but your computer. I had the same problem with an update to my graphics drivers and had to do a restore point before the driver update. As far as smoothness goes, that is the fault of a weak graphics chip. phoneyLogic
After installing your new driver, did you delete the old config files? Go to Startmenu-> Documents\My Games\Fallout3 and delete:- Fallout.ini- FalloutPrefs.ini- RendererInfo.txt Then start the game using the default launcher, set you Launcher settings, start the game until you see the main menu (necessary).Close the game and start as usual. Hope it helps. If not, your gfx card is really quite old. Choose the driver which is working. Sound issues in FO3 usually are related to codecs.Have a look here: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/99804-radio-stutter/page__st__40__p__1110374#entry1110374 Edited January 19, 2012 by tortured Tomato
