cumbrianlad
I've just had a right laugh romping through my tomb with my dwarven spider (which is essential and a bit beefed up on health and attack power). Senyndie, my new follower came this time too. (I plonked her down in the external cell to test her). She's a Redguard and I've given her a decent encounter class and combat style plus a few perks in one-handed with the emphasis on dual wielding. She's brave rather than foolhardy. Sneak is over 70, if you get her at level 50, so she shouldn't be too bad for sneaky characters. Her archery is nothing special but it's not bad. She's dressed in blades armour without the helmet and she dual wields Akaviri katanas. She's got Lydia's voice since it fits with her being both a follower and marriage candidate. She'd be wasted sitting in Heljarchen Hall making sweet breads though. I tried to tank through most of the enemies so that I could turn and watch her fighting and see if she was about right...potent but not OP. She certainly was. I'll leave her stats as they are now. It was pretty cool watching someone dual-wielding those blades swords...I've never seen that before. I wish I'd had a follower like her early on in the game. Maybe I'll do a mod for followers sometime. It's fun and my daughter loves sorting the faces out for them. Senyndie's set at level 50 to level 90, so she'd make mincemeat of everything early on in the game. Typical of Skyrim? Yep. I put a daedric bow and daedric arrows into her inventory but she uses a hunting bow with iron arrows which I swear was not on her person...and there are no hunting bows in the tomb: all my enemy archers use Nordic bows and arrows. It must be something to do with the fact that for once, I didn't create a duplicate race, since I didn't need to alter any of the vanilla details. I'll leave that alone too...every follower has to have annoying idiosyncrasies. Do you get a buzz out of watching your creations in action? IsharaMeradin
The hunting bows and arrows are on the follower alias of the stock follower quest. Once an NPC is picked up as a follower, they are automatically given a hunting bow and iron arrows. Why they choose those over more powerful stuff, no idea. cumbrianlad
Ah! That explains it. I may as well remove the daedric stuff from her inventory then, since the mechanism for equipping the bow is a bit flawed. I'll fiddle about with it for a bit to see if I can see what's going on though. If I want to create other followers that are mainly ranged It'd be good to know. Senyndie is a dual wielding specialist, so it doesn't really matter for her. Thanks for the tip.
