Need some help with CTD's

Hey guys,

I hope you guys can help me fix my game, I just spend a few hours downloading and installing mods.

The main problem I have is that when I get close to the small ranch in springvale it first loads the cell fine but either straight up ctd's or starts stuttering often flicking between 2 frames.

I've looked up other posts with people with the same problem but their fixes don't seem to work for me.

FAllout3 sucked to mod...very finnicky. You can't just dump 90 mods on it and play. You gotta ease all those mods in there. Install, play, satisfied, next..Know what I mean? The DLCs caused me more headache than mods. Best bet=don't install mods until you are passed the tutorial stages of the beginning of the game.

Once you have a nice solid save, begin installing mods, but do the installing in stages of 3-5 at a time rather than all 90 at once. Or you will be fighting the machine the whole way. Remember, the Fallout3 engine is basically the Oblivion engine only more brokeded. Might help to get the June 2012 dx9 web installer, the one with d3d_41 thru d3d_43 dlls for the dx client. (the XP to Vista to 7 dx9 drivers...or Dx10).

What you have posted as a load list looks more like a listing of the mods you have. There is almost nothing in the correct order. I suggest you first uninstall all your mods and start again.

 

The only one you can leave is StreetLights. That placement is correct.

 

Where you placed your merged patch is really strange. It should be the last .esp in your load order.

 

Why do you have a file that is supposed to make the game stable not activated? Why do you have inactive compatibility patches?

 

You need to uninstall any of the inactive plugins. If the file is in the data folder, it will be loaded into memory.

 

You will also need some compatibility patches. I recommend Blackened patches. But you must read the mod descriptions and instructions. This goes for all the mods you have installed.

I seem to be going overboard with the modding lately, just installing and immediately modding the s#*! out of the game.

In case of the weird load order, because I use so many mods i tend to take a shortcut and use LOOT to fix it, seems it may have some problems.

This load out / order is truthfully Bizarre. :ermm:

I guess it's Nmm that is used? and Loot too?

Some of the packages contain data meant for use on The mod "fook"

 

there are better ways to do this and still have all you want, and have the tools needs to show you beforehand whats wrong.

But I'll wait and see what takes place here.

I went ahead and put together "My recommended Tools" for use for this game. It's a list thrown together.

 

I took the opportunity to view your other posts and discovered you have had the same issues in Fo4 as well.

 

But for this game, and I included a a timed download for the sorting templates for Fo3's data base which will expire in an hour.

 

Please take advantage of it.

I went ahead and put together "My recommended Tools" for use for this game. It's a list thrown together.

 

I took the opportunity to view your other posts and discovered you have had the same issues in Fo4 as well.

 

But for this game, and I included a a timed download for the sorting templates for Fo3's data base which will expire in an hour.

The templates go into the folder Fomm creates in the game folder called "Install Info" , the purpose is to remove the fault of an update search, it will not complain and update it's self correctly.

 

Fomm will then sort your data correctly.

 

If you now have all the tools, I'll remove the link now.

You can go ahead, I was only missing Mod Organizer.

Thanks again, I reinstalled the game and added some of the basic mods using the tools, so thanks again for the help.
