iXenite
OK, so I've screwed around with this a little more... and things are weird. So someone suggested the lag might be a product of mirroring, so I hooked the tv up to my desktop and there's that lag. But then I opened up Dishonored (which I had set to 1080p) just to see how it would run and the *menu* was running at 30 fps. I screwed around with things some more and found that 1. Things seem to smoother with THE GAME at 4K and the desktop at 1080p then with the desktop at 4K and the game at 1080p.1A. This doesn't seem to change regardless of whether the game in fullscreen or borderless window.2. My PC thinks I have a 120hz refresh rate. I get the option to change it both in game and in NVidia control panel. I don't. I have 60 fps with backlight strobing. Which is turned off.2A. But even when I set vsync to 120hz, it's locked at 60.3. Other weird results: In Dishonored, setting the game to 4k locks the mouse cursor in the upper right quardrant of the screen. In Doom, setting the game to 1440p locks the frame rate at 30 (I get higher at 4K). Anyone got any idea what this means? I don't know much about displays, but I do know that a lot of 4K TV's are 120hz. They may all be 120hz for all I know, but I'm not certain on that. AceGoober
I'd recommend setting up the TV per this guide by the talented Zarathustra[H] on Hardforum. He has a wealth of experience with Samsung and many other brand TVs and has shared his knowledge so people can get the most out of their TVs. 2015 Samsung 4k TV as a Monitor Set Up Guide
Painshadow
You might be at 30 Hertz instead of the maximum Hertz. If you use an Nvidia GPU, here's how to check to make sure your 4k monitor/display is at it's highest settings: Right click desktop> Display settings> Advanced display settings > Display adapter properties Tic the Monitor tab. Screen Refresh rate, make sure it's at it's highest number. Click Apply then Ok. Fyi for 4k HDR compatibility with a Playstation 4 console and PC or Xbox One, make sure you plugged in the HDMI cable to the correct input on the back of the 4k display. There may be a yellow sticker by the input or labeled as HDMI/DVI. That's the one to use. When plugged into the correct HDMI input on the display, the HDR option(s) for PS4, PC, and Xbox One will not be greyed out. So many people have returned 4k displays and do not understand the full functionality of what they can do. Samsung has drivers as well for the 4k displays as well as full support in the Samsung forums. I have a Samsung display and can say without a doubt it's the best display i have ever used due to it's quality and multiple HDMI inputs. Yes i would prefer a higher Hertz 4k, but i would take 60-120 Hertz 4k over a G-Synce 1440p any day of the week. Here's a great site for displays. They've been around for some time and even have that oldschool website design vibe from the 90's. Highly recommended! http://www.blurbusters.com/ Edited February 24, 2017 by Painshadow
JimboUK
Yes, getting the right port is really important, that one with the yellow sticker is also HDCP 2.2 compliant, results may vary with the other ports depending on the model.
