chris1892006
Hi, apparently my dual xeon's are having trouble (24 threads) and 8GB 390X when on top of the highest Skyscraper's... Running Ultra 3200x1800... Know of any tweaks that can improve these droops? GPU VRam only about 4,400MB usage and on a DeLimited Power Limit 390X @ 1,250Mhz (80 Giga Pixel's & 220 Giga Texel's). If there was a simple one setting to change like for instance ARMA III or DayZ where it would lag, until you drop the single r_drawdistance to a much more proper level... Then FPS was constant 60fps... Thanks
JimmyRJump
Getting rid of lag in certain areas in FO4 is a lost cause as the game is very badly optimised. The only real thing one can do is add retexture mods like the Vivid series from Hein84. The latter mods have been mostly done in the same resolution as the original textures, but to a higher standard with much more detail and they run also much smoother, getting rid of a lot of RAM-spikes which seem to randomly occur all over the game in no particular place for no particular reason... I used to get spikes of over 10GB, causing the game to crash on my old MSI R7970 Lightning. Bought an MSI RX470 (until Vega is released) for its 8GB of V-RAM. Still some random spikes, but no more crashes...
chris1892006
Thank you so much for replying buddy! :D I appreciate the advice very much. I did stumble across some things. My Dual Xeon's are Hexa-Core's so 12 actual core's and 12 hyperthread's so 24 is quite a lot. With the T7500 it allows all core's/ thread's to run continuous at the highest boost clock on all thread's of right about 3070Mhz. That's totaling if you take 3070 x 24 = 73,680 Mega Hertz of processing power... Clearly we have draw calls beyond what any machine can realistically do... I mean I don't even think the mods effect it.. It's specifically when on top of the highest skyscraper's does no setting give hardly any more fps other than turning down the res to 1080p which I can't do.. haha Someone said on this thread I read that MaxDrawCalls is kinda pretty much why it lags... Less draw calls does 60fps... more some 10fps... Since my gpu utilization goes to 0.0% and clocks back like it's power throttling yet I'm power de-limited... Massively enormous power spikes in many areas of this game... That's why I run de-limited at 80 billion pixel's per second and 220 billion texel's per second. I can be looking at a door and as the view port zero's center on the door we lose 40fps... move view port slightly to the right or left and fps goes up 40fps... Oh yeah : Optimized Vanilla Textures : has helped quite a bit I must say... Almost looks better too http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1204/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Ffallout4%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D1204&pUp=1 https://i.imgur.com/5FA70mF.png bMouseAcceleration=0 Turns off mouse accelleration uInterior Cell Buffer=12uExterior Cell Buffer=144 Sets a cell buffer limit for inside and out of buildings (Cells are the units in which the game sections the game map) bUseThreadedBlood=1bUseThreadedMorpher=1bUseThreadedTempEffects=1bUseThreadedParticleSystem=1bUseThreadedAI=1bUseMultiThreadedFaceGen=1bUseMultiThreadedTrees=1 Enables multi threading for all of the game systems (These may or may not work well for you) iNumHWThreads=8*Sets the amount of threads your CPU can use iPreloadSizeLimit=262144000This one should fix any framerate drops you can get when you enter a new area. (It will however cause a slight delay upon loading the game initially)It sets the amount of memory the game can use to pre-load assets (This may cause issues if you have low VRAM or System memory. There are also some more things you can enable multithreading for from the in game console.Press tilde to open the console in game "~" I can't remember what these stand for but the game tells you what they are when you enter them.tMt = Toggle multi-threaded **Looking Into Adjusting DrawCalls** The game has drawcalls bottleneck, so far i've tested AMD driver and it hates anything over 5k drawcalls, performance will drop below 60fps. Sometimes even when you look at nothing the drawcalls is high in Fallout 4. Fallout 4 | 12k drawcalls | 23 FPSFallout 4 | 9.1k drawcalls | 29 FPSFallout 4 | 1.7k drawcalls | 60 FPS (capped)Fallout 4 | 4.2k drawcalls | 57 FPS (actually 60 cap) Edited February 1, 2017 by chris1892006
JimmyRJump
I actually had smooth play right until around v1.4 or 1.5 of the game (the update that set-up the vanilla game to co-operate flawlessly with the at that time soon to be released Far Harbor DLC). From then on, it was a rollercoaster ride through mountains and valleys of frame rates (strangely, this update also introduced streaming textures instead of direct rendering; this to shorten load times on less powerfull machines, alas also introducing the murkiness of some textures as they somehow don't get rendered properly). I started reading up on stuff and went berserk on ini files in a 100 miles radius, but in the end gave up as there's no amount of tweaks that will get rid of these random drops. Sure, there's bound to be some tweaks that actually cure some of the illnnesses, but they seem to pop-up elsewhere as a result. I also noticed that whatever setting I used, even lowering my display resolution (of the game, not my TV/Monitor) didn't change one iota in fps. Playing Ultra in 1920x1080 or 1440x810 was exactly the same. Playing at lowest settings possible in either resolution, same results in dips and max fps. Must add I play with fps capped at 60 to stay in sync with my monitor's refresh rate.
chris1892006
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21470/? This actually fixes most all issues and makes the game look way better... on low or ultra it looks good and runs good. Some hiccups here and there as usual but working out the kinks over time... just trying to enjoy the game a bit now which I can with my above mod.
