littlefriend Posted January 20, 2012 Share Posted January 20, 2012 So Oblivion is crashing whenever I try to name a custom spell or enchanted item at the altars in Frostcrag. I haven't tried it anywhere else yet. I've had all these mods installed for weeks with no other apparent issues. Due to the sheer number it's not really feasible to troubleshoot one mod at a time, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look and tell me if they see anything obvious. I suspect it has something to do with an item organization mod, but I'm having trouble identifying which mod that is at the moment. 1,000,000 internet points to anyone that can point me in the right direction! Balakirev Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 You've not used BOSS, have you? Because the Item Interchange mods are supposed to load directly before your Bashed Patch. Also, COBL races includes the Ren Beautypack, if I recall correctly. And the UOP Vampire Aging and Face Fix is something you can engage in Wrye Bash directly, as one of its settings. There are some other anomalies. In any case, run BOSS just to see what it recommends, and if it suggests newer versions of some of your mods. littlefriend Posted January 23, 2012 Author Share Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) I run BOSS regularly through Wrye Bash. WB is set to allow BOSS load orders to take precedence over WB LO's as well. What strikes me as odd is that it I've been running the same mods for weeks with no problem. It just started happening suddenly. Then it stopped for a couple of days. Now it's doing it again and it's started crashing when I wait as well.I haven't added any new mods in at least 2 weeks. I'll give your suggestions a try and see what happens. It crashes on fast travel, too, but I'd bet that started happening at the same time. Weird. Thanks for the suggestions and taking a look, though. littlefriend Posted January 23, 2012 Author Share Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) Something else I've just noticed, and I have no idea if it's related or not, is that all my .esm and .esp file icons have changed from the folded corner paper icon to the windows unknown program icon. I have no idea when, why or how that happened or if it matters at all. Also, the game has now started crashing about 5 seconds after loading a save. The game loads fine, I start to move then it freezes and crashes. I'm starting to get quite annoyed by the random issues that are appearing. littlefriend Posted January 23, 2012 Author Share Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) The earliest save I have is only a couple of hours earlier. That one doesn't crash when I load it. However I'm still getting crashes with enchanting and spell-making. Sometimes. I immediately tried to enchant an item and rename it. Everything's cool. I then tried to create and rename a spell and it crashes. Reload the game and it crashes at the enchantment rename again. Reload again. Enchant/rename item all good. Create/rename a spell - crash. I don't get why sometimes it works on enchanting, but never on spell making. Especially since it was working fine for both two days ago. Update - So, I reloaded that save. I still get the random crashes from enchanting/spell-making, but not from waiting/sleeping. That is until I get to the point in the Brotherhood Betrayed quest where I'm supposed to meet the guard back at Olav's Tap and Tack in an hour. When I wait, the game crashes.
