Both the players and balls are real (in most of it), but the kicks and slams are being done against green screens. Scott (Matt) was added later and had to suffer only the slo-mo faceshots, supposedly replays which if you look closely are different and much less violent than the initial kicks/slams. Hard to believe that nobody in Lane County thought to pick up a telephone and call other counties (or states) for other ideas. They would have discovered this kind of thing happens elsewhere very often, and the standard procedure is to simply wait for the next high tide and use the same bulldozers shown at the end of this video to dump the carcass back into the ocean. For larger beached animals they wait for high tide and use fishing nets tied to barges or other heavy boats.
