Slaves

Free him, otherwise he is pretty sure to end up dead. You can't use slaves - where is your humanity? What do they teach fourteen year olds in Norway these days? Tst, tst, tst! If you want a companion there is one in Mournhold in the palace courtyard. IIRC he will not leave Mournhold though. You can collect hangers on, Din for instance in Morrowind, High-Pockets in Mournhold and the Khajiit from the Fort Firemoth extension. They won't carry items but will fight with you (and die quickly)!

Better still go for a Mod. You can get a companion called Leif Ericsson if you try the witch girl.

I disagree with part of Malchik's reply. There really aren't any effective hangers-on, even in the mods. The best you'll be able to do is get some slow tank, and that won't really help you. It's best to go it alone in Morrowind.

However, I believe this is the reason for such a great outcry for multiplayer Morrowind. Even though it would be fun, I would much rather see the studio that created Morrowind do a steampunk multiplayer game than another fantasy game.

Actually, the With-girl mod mentioned above does get you some fairly useful companions. The author, Emma, has been messing with companion mods for a while now and some of the more recent mods give you companions with decent AI and interesting dialogue.

If the companions are too weak for your uber character and you have a bit of scripting knowledge then it is not too hard to buff them up. I gave the witch girl a huge mana pool and magicka regen, which makes her cast a wide variety of spells. You can also mess with the summon creature spells so that she doesn't summon the same creature each time. Basically, there's all sorts you can do with AI in a script, so there has to be some companion mods out there that give companions that are both fun and useful. Try asking on the mod forum.

I didn't say they were effective! I thought I made it quite clear they were a waste of space. I am only pointing out that you can have hangers-on if you wish. (I had a whole thread on High-Pockets, the bane of my Mournhold existence!)

However the characters in the witch girl are rather stronger than you imply and they will carry stuff for you. The biggest problem with any situation where you have companions is their habit of getting in front of you when you are attacked. You end up killing your own side. I'm sure we've all done that.

The slaves are there to be freed - if you want. Free enough and you will learn of Twin Lamps. When you talk to Ilmeni Dren about slavery and know the password you will get two quests whether you are House Hlaalu or not. (If House Hlaalu you get three quests). Slaves have nothing worth stealing and are not in a position to fight back properly. Killing them would be like killing children. If that's what rocks your boat...

Sludgewort's spam deleted. Enough! Just because you can post doesn't mean you have to!

Blackmage, that's getting a bit off topic.

Edit: Sludgewort, when a mod deletes your post, its a very bad idea to repost it anyway. I'm sure having an xbox is really nice, but it's off topic here. The discussion is about slaves, not potential companion mods.
