Fkemman11
@Fkemman11Reminds me, I still want to give those people some good old Norse religion. Make that big tree in Sanctuary a holy tree, and sacrifice some raiders to Odin. Should put the fear of the gods in everyone else  Works for me!!

It's actually quite striking.
Moraelin
Well, technically I just need one big frikken oak or other such tree, to symbolize Yggdrasil, the world tree upon which allfather Odin hanged himself and pierced himself with his own spear. The bigger the tree the better, really. If I could get a mighty sequoia, it would be ideal, but I don't think those are to be found anywhere near Boston. So basically if that tree you've found looks big and imposing, yeah, that would work quite nicely. I'll probably need a proper stave church there, but I can mod the walls and roofs for that myself

It is much more impressive from the ground. Edited March 2, 2017 by Flowerguy360

kitcat81
I totally agree. Even nowdays many non believes start to pray if they get in some really dangerous situation. I imagine that in Post Apocalypse world there would be not only religions but also many weird cults. There are almost no schools, no educatuion and this should rise different supernatual beliefes. There could be more interesting scary/mysterious quests related to this. Can`t remember anything significant apart from Far Harbour DLC. I don`t understand what is the problem with existing religions. I think that slightly changing the name of the religion or any god should be enough to avoid problems with real life believers. I have seen it in books. And this is not even necessary to use any existing religion. There could be any weird religion ...like deathclaws cult or even Mama Murthy cult :smile:The game lacks things like this that makes the world more alive and more human. Or due to the nature of the world people will believe god has abandoned them or would primarily focus on survival in a harsh world. Having no schools or education won't mean much when temples served as schools before modern education became a thing.

I think the feeling of God Abandoning them would be a first generation thing only. Afterward, expect the survivors living on hopes and prayers turn to any number of religions from fervent Protestantism, to Chtulu Cults to yes, the Children of the Atom. Fkemman11
I wonder if any one religion could gain such a following as to allow for its leaders to maybe form some kind of city-state of the Boston area and form some kind of govt. to address the needs of a growing populace. Sorta like what someone said about feudalism being the model. I guess the Kingdom of Dave ain't so far fetched after all... What would be hilarious is to come across a group of StuperMutants practicing some form of perverted Christianity or something. They could have these silly robes and hats that barely fit them with perhaps Brahmins being sacred or something.... I mean think about comin through the rubble killin a raider or two and the next thing you know a funny dressed SM is looking at you saying "Bless you Meatbag !!" :woot:
Moraelin
I think the feeling of God Abandoning them would be a first generation thing only. Afterward, expect the survivors living on hopes and prayers turn to any number of religions from fervent Protestantism, to Chtulu Cults to yes, the Children of the Atom. Well, that's kinda the thing: any number of religions. When things go spectacularly pear shaped, unless you have some Inquisition or such to keep them in line -- and even then it might need quite the terror campaign to suppress the other cults -- people start to get the idea that whatever worship they were doing ain't working. You can see it in the explosion of sects in the late middle ages / renaissance, or in Rome abandoning their old gods and turning to just about anything else when things go spectacularly wrong in the 2nd and 3rd centuries. And not just to Xianity, but also Mithranism, other mystery cults, solar cults, anything that's not the gods that failed them. You can see it in Egypt abandoning their old gods during the Roman occupation. Etc. So yeah, I'd expect Xianity to take a big hit there, and all sorts of tribal religions competing with each other to fill the void. Me? I still want to put the fear of the Norse gods into them. Nothing like sacrificing a few people to Odin to remind the rest to shut up and obey the General, or they too can have the great honour of being chosen to meet the gods at the next blot
