ParagonPC
Unfortunately, I have to use wifi for my laptop because ethernet doesn't work in my room :( The wifi has to go through a lot to reach me and I don't always get the best connection :( Is there anything I can do or buy to improve the connection? I'm willing to pay some money but not a lot.... Thanks in advance :)
Erik005
You can buy a wifi range extender and place it halfway between you and the original wifi source

Erik005
You can place an extender anywhere where there is a power outlet. You can also look into powerline adapters but they are expensive
bben46
The powerline adapters are a good alternative. The base is plugged into an outlet near the router and hooks to the router by a short cat5 cable. Then the other one - receiver is plugged into an outlet near your computer and hooked to the computer with another short cat5 cable. Faster than wifi. Cost between US$75 and US$150 for the pair. OR, run a cat 5 cable all the way from the router to your computer - may not be a viable alternative depending on what it has to pass through. Found a cheaper source for a powerline adapter about $40 PM me for source if you are interested (US ONLY)
hoofhearted4
you could always put tin foil around your antenna on your Router to try and strengthen/extend the signal i think there is a little bit of science to it, as in its not quite as simple as just sticking tinfoil around it an there might be some other material too, but i know ppl have told me about it and i know a couple who have done it with results. The easest way is cutting open a 0.5L beercan and placing it behind the antennas but this is very scharp, not reccomnded with pets and kids
Fonger
you could move the wi-fi closer to your room too after all it can be at the end of a cat5 cable itself
