What do you think about this build?

Without knowing the budget it's hard to say.

The cpu is relatively old, but running 4 cores/8 threads should probably still performe very good in good multithread optimized games. Skyrim isn't one... So there the single core counts more, but it should still be plenty enough, but I can't give you any fps results for that.

In question of witcher 3 you should be good around 60 fps, with maybe drops in intesive areas (referring to the gtx 1060 with similar cpu). It's a more gpu intensive game so thst should work well.

Like already said, without budget hard to say, but I would probably go for an newer i5 if you won't go on extremely cpu heavy games or software.

What is your budget exactly? It would help with responses. If you want to game at 120hz you'll need a better CPU than the i7 950 though. That and probably a better GPU if you want to hit 120hz with The Witcher 3.

That would require to know from what you upgrade to a 1060.

However, for older games (up to dx11) the 1060 is a good card in my opinion, but with newer titles and dx12 support you could go with a rx 480, which provides better support for dx12 and often outperforms a 1060.

Also I would recommend when going with a gtx 1060 to get the 6GB version and not the 3GB. Witcher 3 is very vram friendly (can't get this game over 4GB usage), but with other games like Skyrim + many texture mods a bigger buffer could be good.

It should be noted that if you're trying to play the original release of Skyrim with Windows 10 that you'll never go above 4GB's anyway as DX9 games are limited in that regard on Microsoft's newest OS. The GTX 1060 will be adequate for what you want to play though, but not at 120hz. If you are aiming for 60fps you'll be fine though - the GTX 1060 is a great card for 1080p at 60fps. Like the other poster said though, it would be nice to know what GPU you currently have to gauge how good an upgrade the GTX 1060 would be for you.

Mobo supports triple channel memory. Get a third kingston stick, should speed things up a bit...unless you already have 4 sticks, then find triple channel set with 8GB sticks. 1600 -1866 is fine, look for low CL (7-9) bandwidth doesn't help much if you have high latency.

i7...beats my AMD8350 and I keep up with some heavy games.
GTX 1060...upgrade to a 4gb VRAM for best experience, but 2gb can handle UHD graphics (2048x)

If you don't have SSD for your game drive, Sandisk has some cheap 450mb/s at about $40. Couple 120GBs in a RAID0=vroom.

An RX 470 4GB would be great for 1080p at 60fps and is under $200 USD. A GTX 1060 would be even better, though the RX 480 8GB could be found for cheaper and you'd get equal or greater performance out of that than the GTX 1060. Just a suggestion.
