sheak15
Hello, for some reason I cannot begin dialogue with random NPCs. Neither their names or any options come up when looking at them. They still speak their "idle chat?" when you walk by, bump into or hit them. Also they seem to not be following their scheduled routines. So far they are all in Solitude; Octieve San, Taarie, and Jawanan. I've tried Disable, Enable, reset AI, Recycleactor, ect. perhaps not in the right order though. My apologies for my ineptness in advance. I am thankful for any help, this has been driving me mad for weeks. LeddBate
You've got a lot of mods that affect NPCs (example: NPCProtectionTweaks) Could be that you're getting some conflict there. Also, call me paranoid, but I distrust anything from Sexlab.
Jebbalon
Might be as simple as they are 'in combat'.Not with you, but maybe there is a Vampire or Bandit or Wayward Dragon that the NPCs are unable to get at.Try to find the offender and eliminate them.Or try running a distance away or enter another building, then wait for an hour (in-game) and return to them. sheak15
Thank you for the advice but I still keep coming up empty handed. It tried a clean install, only added the Unofficial Patch for mods, ran the save, then cleaned it. Their name and dialogue options still didn't appear. I don't think they are in combat mode either as Taarie is her shop, and Octieve San and Jawanan are in the Winking Skeever. I tried turning off Combat AI too and no change. They may have been like this since I first entered Solitude and before I added many of the mods, so maybe its just a glitch or Bug in the save since I created it? LeddBate
That's possible, but it is more likely two (or more) mods conflicting. Have you tried starting a new game with your mods to see if the problem still occurs? If it doesn't, then a save corruption becomes more of a possibility. But if the problem persists on a new game, then, even if there's a save corruption, it has to be caused by one or more mods. Time to break out the heavy artillery. The following troubleshooting guide is by darstyler. Please give him a kudo if you find it useful Here is a list of things you may do to stabilize your game :/// Useful informations : Dangerous mods list.CTDs troubleshooting page on Reddit very usefull informations concerning CTDs...Verify gamecache./// Load order / mods conflicts : Use L.O.O.T once and click on the "sort plugins buttons".Create a wryebash patch including leveled lists.Create a merged patch with Tesedit excluding leveled lists/// Settings / memory :Have you installed the skse patch ? >> memory blocks log.Backup your ini files and delete the files. Skyrim.ini / SkyrimCustom.ini / SkyrimPrefs.ini found in C:\Users\Utilisateur\Documents\My Games\Skyrim then use your vanilla launcher to autodetect and use best settings for your computer./// Cleaning and correcting potential bugs :Clean your master files to eliminate potential problems.: Gopher's videos cleaning your masterfiles on the Nexus Tesedit page.Start Tes5edit, simply untick everything, (right-click/select none) and add only a tick to the esm/esp you want to check + update.esm, Tesedit knows what to do and will load all the dependencies automatically.- Begin with loading only Skyrim + update, ITM / UDR + save ctrl +s and close.- Then load Skyrim + update + Dawnguard, ITM / UDR + ctrl +s and close.- Then load Skyrim + update + Hearthfire, ITM / UDR + ctrl +s and close.- Then load Skyrim + update + Dragonborn, ITM / UDR + ctrl +s and close. The method above can be used to clean mods. If I'm correct LOOT should tell you which plugin you should clean. You may load all your mods with Tes5edit and use the (right-click in the left pane) apply filter to show conflict losers. Wait till Tes5edit has finished. Caution : don't try to modify anything while using this filter, it's not intended for.In the left pane, Expand the subsections and examine conflicts. Once an entry is expanded to the bottom and selected, the right pane shows which mods modify the entry. The last one on the right is the last loaded in your load order and the conflict winner.Expand the following subsections, depending on where the problems occur. Cells for CTDs inside buildings, grottos, etc... and worldspace for exterior. The goal is to target mods that edit the same places and conflict. Open the bloc note and write those mods.Once done, close Tes5edit and open each mod with Tesedit, one by one and use the UDR cleaning procedure (Gopher's videos cleaning your masterfiles on the Nexus Tesedit page) to ensure all the deleted references will be transformed in disabled references = no CTDs from this point. If you suspect a mod in particular, using the conflict looser / winner method above, you can decide to change its load order or uninstall it./// Save game :Don't uninstall mods at mid-game, there are no clean save in Skyrim but using save script cleaner can help removing orphan scripts./// Meshes healer :Read here, this is potentially a cause of CTD that you can resolve by following the mod procedure on this page. sheak15
A new game had everything working fine with the mods I have. I think the save just got corrupted whether by a mod I installed and then got rid of, or a fluke. I remember it being strange when I first entered Solitude and didn't get Octieve San's "Debt Forgiveness" Quest, which is always one of the first side-quests I do for some reason. I even looked if I was in the middle of any of the quests that use then same ID. So I guess I never could talk to him since I entered the city. Anyway thank you all for your help. It's really appreciated!
