I only hope the user friendly makes things easier, I know coding will be, and I really hope the dialogue tool will be.

You and me both... I went over my script last night and discovered i have 15 pages of dialogue. If it's like Oblivion's CS, i may jsut give up on my project now.

I'm hoping they allow you to go into a character, and attach a voice to that character's particular line of dialogue. When a voice is attached it creates the lip files automatically to the line of dialogue. But that's wishful thinking. but they did say USER-FRIENDLY. I just wonder what that entails, and how exactly it differs from the latest GECK and older CK's.

:wallbash: Umm it should be ready

Umm... Should it?

a lot of people go on about how "Oh, its just the system they used to make the game, why is it taking so long to release" and completely ignoring the fact that they have stated 2 things which render the asumption irrelivent.

First, they have stated that they are making it more user friendly to make it easier on modders, and to open up modding to a larger volume of people. "Making it" being the point. They are changing the CK from the system they used to one which can do the same, but easier.

Second, it is being, by all accounts, extensivly integrated into Steamworkshop, probably with a very simple, button click upload system. That not onyl requires coding, it requres legal negotiations and interface changes, all of which takes time.

I've heard some people argue that they should just release both a Steamworkshop version, and another version, but that causes legal issues. Would mods created and uploaded through the non-steamworkshop version be subject to the same Bethesda-Valve legalities as the steamworkshop version? How would the legal nuances between both versions affect the modding community? If they are honest in their desire to offer modding support and tutorials, would these be aplicable to the non-steamworkshop version?

There is too much hassel, practically and legally, with releasing two versions. We also know that the CK we receive will NOT be the one they used to make the game.

There has been absolutely nothing to support the asertion that 'it should be done'.

The fact that it is the not very widely wanted Steam Workshop that is holding the thing up is precisely what is winding people up.

Since a large number of people are not going to upload to the Steam Workshop, and that uploading to Steam Workshop is NOT mandatory, and that their claim to own everything you make with the CK is extremely dodgy, I really am not sure why you think there would be any legal "nuances" in releasing a non-Steamworks version of the CK. It's more a case of money talks and (you know what) walks where the Beth/Valve relationship is concerned, I'll be bound.

And since I suspect that modding support and tutorials are going to be thin on the ground on Steam Workshop, and people are going to have to continue coming to Nexus and TESAlliance for tutorials, in the case of many people they will WANT to do that, then it would be preferable to have a non Steam Workshop version.
