AMD pulling out of the desktop CPU market

Recommended Posts

I'm foreseeing something far Worst SOPA, ACTA and PIPA ever dreamed to be. Don't be surprised your pristine machine coming as hardware DRMed like Sony's machine, let's say a few hackers may still circumvent the earlier TC implementations, but do you still believe is not the "common" user the target? for this may be the end to ever be able to search the Internet for "solutions" for whatever abuse IP ideology and marketing models can and will invent.

Is anyone else trying to figure out how this is related to the topic? Anyhow, I will am definitely done buying AMD. My next CPU (which i will by March) will be the i5 2500K and I don't care if it is outperformed by the 1100T in non-gaming platforms, because benchmarks say otherwise, and gaming is what I do. AMD brought this on themselves.

Maybe later I will tell you all my latest experience with AMD and why I am no longer buying from them ever again.

lol i was also wondering. i couldnt understand the paragraph to be honest.

if your going to get a new CPU, you should wait and see the Ivy Bridges. hopefully they live up to their hype!

I could be wrong but maybe he is talking about the build up of "mini supercomputers" used by people mining bitcoins or trying to steal data. Once the "bad guys" have more computing power for folding than good guys they will have control.

He is making a valid point that if SOPA (StopOnlinePiracyAct) new United States .Bill

PIPA (Preventing(theft of)Intellectual Property Act)

and ACTA (European version of SOPA)

...If they have their way through government bills and white papers then WE all will be using 'dumbed down' hand helds

and desktops with ZERO computing power ~NO choices NO ~modding NO ~individuality

NO ~Forum discussions about latest Intel CPU verses AMD (or other) Phenom III etc. etc.

In fact no MOD talk at all..!! 'cus as earlier stated AMD are 'going to go CLOUD' which started this discussion...

CLOUD will be ...closly linked to the three above Gov.Dept'

If hardware is also DRMed then there will be little choice anywhere ....no #Sexy talk about the latest GPU you got

or even Operating Systems!

OK it's a while off all this ...our man is @Saying ...enjoy it while all this choice is still here...

(This may need to be a new Thread..!?)

What makes you think they are planning to DRM hardware? Besides that fact, we are talking about PC's, not handhelds. The only relation this thread has to handhelds is that AMD is supposedly moving to only work on them. Not Intel. So regardless of what bad business decision AMD makes the market will be fine, as someone else said if it were ever really as bad as the two of you think it is and those bills were passed people would be rioting.

(On a side note it IS amazing to me how people reacted to the risk of their freedom of speech and expression being taken away, but when it comes to gun rights ((The very thing that enables us to have freedom of speech and expression)) people let those go without so much as a second thought.)

It's a scary thought knowing Intel won't have competition... What will this mean for innovation? Why would they even want to innovate when they have no incentive or competition to make them?

IMO its not like the gaming companies really kept up with the latest and greatest breakthroughs of intel anyways. I think prices in part will stay close to where thay are now because of the competition from mobile gaming.
