Kenjero
I have never been able to figure out what the big deal about V.A.T.S. is? Is it the slow motion factor, and if so inhale some JET, because that's where it's at baby!! Really though just shoot the NPC and be done with. Their head is gonna explode either way, that is if the % points are high enough for you do choose the head in V.A.T.S.. kenjero
Fkemman11
I personally don't use it very much. I mainly use it as a "cheat" to quickly indentify enemies and their locations.
Gruffydd
With the right perks you do substantially more damage in vats than you do without, spray crits left and right, bypass cover, and so on. Combine with gauss rifle and headshots and quite a few foes drop very quickly.Rifleman 5 + Sniper 3 + Penetrator 2 + Concentrated Fire 3 + Gun Fu 3 + Critical Banker 4 + Grim Reaper's Sprint 3 + Four Leaf Clover 4 = Multiple foes' heads exploding very quickly, even if they're behind cover, or larger beasties going down before they can get to you, and all from quite a long distance away. Nothing that my infinite ammo grenade or rocket launcher cant take care of. Plus I like seeing several enemies blown up at once.
Moraelin
Well, it did use to be more useful in FO3 and NV. The hit chance did take a bit of a nose-dive in FO4. Well, unless my memory fails me about FO3 and NV, anyway. I suppose it should still be pretty useful for people playing with a controller, though. I haven't tried it myself, but I can't imagine it being both as accurate AND quick as with a mouse. You can get one OR the other, but I've yet to find a controller that comes anywhere near a good mouse when you need both at the same time. That said, well, if you don't like it, don't use it. snapper69
"but I've yet to find a controller that comes anywhere near a good mouse" That's because it doesn't exist. I've very rarely used VATS (maybe the name puts me off), I prefer to blast away with semi auto/auto weapons like an FPS game.
Moraelin
Yeah. After literally over a dozen different gamepads bought, I was kinda starting to suspect that one doesn't exist where I can turn 45 degrees in 0.1 seconds and stop exactly with the crosshair over a guy's head, like I can with the mouse. bmt12
It is handy since I play these RPGs with a controller, this game is terribly optimized when it comes to the shooter element for using a controller. I don't expect it to ever reach the level of a good mouse but there have been console shooters that are passable while Fallout is just painfully slow aiming and turning with it.
