I have never used NMM, when you say "everything activated fine"...Does that mean that the mod has a tick in DATA FILES when you launch the game?......I know it sounds ridiculously obvious BUT it happened to me

Other than what's been said...mods should be working...unless it has something to do with being on E drive instead of C drive....but i doubt that would cause problem. GL. tc.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The mods do not show up in the data file box at launch. NMM just says activated succesfully. And on the clean install machine I did get 1 mod to install manually(skimpy aurmor) just droped the 1 "mesh" file in data and bingo. This machine has standard install of steam on c/ program files. It doesn't show up in the data box either- but works.Still can not get any thing fmods with multipule files to work. I mean, I didn't JUST fall off the truck. I do know drag/drop/copy/paste/merge/overwrite. I don't get it(obviously).

Well, may be too late for most, but Steam itself should never be installed on C: least yet under Program Files.

It's possible to define it's install at any other location and it will keep it's normal structure and avoid all problems related to those non blessed folders (Program Files and it's (x86) equivalent).

Mine, for instance is sitting happy at F: without any collateral effect. Actually I moved the Documents folder out the C: too as some those hardlinked folders. That information may be useful now that still small SSDs are coming out and Windows being installed in there makes keeping games in the same partition a bad idea.

HAHA you seem more computer literate than me. Out of curiosity did any of the mods come with an ESP file...if they did ...did you drop it into the "data" folder ?....maybe why not showing in launch data box....

Also when i instal a mod i open {in two windows-data folder in one & mod folder in the other} ..then open each folder separately IE: usually there is the "mesh" & "texture" ...so EG: i'll open the mesh & keep opening it until a different name folder shows...eg: armor, & then do the same in the other {mod} window until i get to armor...then open it once more & drag that into the armor folder.........same for texture...........hope that makes sense...sorry if it seems a clumsy method...but am self taught by trial & error. tc.

Out of curiosity... Are you running this on a Win Vista or Win 7 PC? And, is Steam installed in the "Program Files" folder?

Hi.thanks for the reply. Win 7 and yes the one machine I have been able to put one mod in is standard install.

If you have not completely turned off UAC, you should consider moving Steam out to the root of the C drive since the Program Files and Program Files(x86) folders are system protected. It could be the UAC causing the issue.

Move Steam out of there and see if your issues magically disappear.

Alright, first I wanna say thanks for all the input everyone. This has actually been a great way to gain an intro to mod installing. Both my machines are now up and running mods. All I can say is there appears to have been some confusion on my part caused from going back and forth between the two systems. Also I have been staying away from NMM but only so I could figure out what was going on.

Oh ya , I would also bet that if you asked some of the other people having problems confirming that their mods are active, " have you removed the clothes to see if the character is nude?", I think you will find lots of us noobs that really do not understand how textures and mods really work. Removeitem and equipitem in the developer console were key to me figuring this out. Anyway now I have really good looking characters, blood, and landscapes-citys! And one piece of info I found that was pretty obscure is that if you want any clothes/equipment changes to stay permanantly you need to add a space and the#1 after the item id like this equipitem00000000 1. Thanks again everyone!
