strawbqwerty
So I ported world of Rudra to Skyrim Se. That went well. Got to Rudra and there was some visual issues around, varying shades of purple here and there, bits missing. I checked out the meshes and texture files. Here is the issues I found. There are 23 DDS files that when you check there file types they are Gamebryo File Format, Version 20.2.0.7 which is a mesh or nif format. So these DDS files are in fact mesh files? There is a corresponding 22 Mesh or nif files that are actually DDS files. This I can at the moment only assume as I have yet to find a program to open the and check there files types. Nifscope comes up with wrong file format, so I am guessing they are a dds format. Strange thing is I had installed this with the old skyrim and had no issues. I will down load a earlier version and see if it is the same.
Kroekr
If you want a program to view dds files, download Gimp2 and get the dds plugin for it. All free.
strawbqwerty
It is not so much wanting to view them. i have a couple of programs that should load them but they come up as nif file format even though they are named as dds files. Just would like to know why this is so? I would think it is not a normal process to have nif file marked as dds and dds files marked as nif files. PeterMartyr
Live dangerously, change the extension. cough, cough See what happens, when you try to open them? :whistling:
strawbqwerty
Might have to try that. The mod was made up with a BSA which i extracted so I could update/ convert the meshes and texture for the new skyrim. So I tried to create new BSA files with the archive tool that came with the new creation kit. Tool threw a wobbly when it got to these files. Would like to know how the mod author Bee999 got them into a BSA file when both the archive tool and the creation kit reject them. Yet the old skyrim had no issues with them or ignored them and maybe they are not needed?
strawbqwerty
Mr Peter Martyr you had the answer. Changed the file extension and every thing was fine. So how did these files suddenly change ? Was It the unpacking of the BSA ? One other issue i have had is files not in there correct place. Texture and meshes have been a real mess. i have had to go through each folder and check if the right files where there. Some folders where empty and those files found in other folders. strawbqwerty
Found the culprit that scrambled the files. it was the BSA extractor I was using. Tried another BSA extractor and all was good.

Guess that when you discard the possible, what ever remains, however improbable, is True. Glad it all working now.
xdenkiteki
How did you solve this? I used two different BSA extractors on the bsa file containing the fireatlas and gradients, but they still only show up in .nif, changing the file extension is not helping anything when opening them up in nifskope ><
