29th January - creation kit speculations

It seems to me we're all stuck with Steam in any event. Can't run the game without Steam, so what does it matter if there is integration with the CK? What is everyone's concern?

I can't say I'm the biggest fan of Steam. I had a devil of a time running Fallout 3, mostly because of Steam. Fallout New Vegas runs okay. I haven't really played Skyrim yet, just fooled around with the opening a little. What little I've done seems to run fine. I have wanted to wait before actually starting Skyrim until some good mods come out so I'll wait for the CK.

The issue is that it's most likely the Steam integration that's holding back the CK.

I'm just going to start out by saying... F*** this Steam integration. No doubt it's what's delaying the CK so much... And I think it would be giving too much credit to Bethesda to expect them to keep their word and at the very least, release it on the 31st.

I wonder if bugthesda actually asked every gamer......how many would say the same thing to their faces....I sure would......no one gives a damm about this steam intergration

Seriously, do you enjoy taking the time to capitalize the first letter of every single word in all of your sentences? Why?

This reaks of one of those situations where a group of people, likely STEAM or Valve people, had an idea on how they could implement the CK "improve" it for everyone by releasing mods via STEAM and suggested it to Bethesda. Bethesda jumped at the idea because they're all about that. Unfortunately, they worked out the deal and the Steamworks integration fell behind but due to legality Bethesda is stuck with it.

It's one of those times where a committee makes a stupid decision ruining the whole process. I hate committees...

I'm a sucker for a good story and presentation, so I'll most likely buy the DLC.

But yeah its probably most likely the Steam intergration holding back the release. Bethesda (I'm not calling Bugthesda, its a silly and crass name.) has released their toolkits fairly quickly in the past.

You know. When they weren't stuck intergrating a toolkit with a massive online service.

Many people talking about lies may not be aware what is doing such "things", the marketing board comes with some "wonderful" idea the directory board think is really wonderful and the development team see it wonderful if they can ever dream to put it out in time... If they can put it out ever as originally presented.

Of course I'm so clueless like most about what is going indeed under the cover, but I can imagine the CK is ready to go anytime, that integration with steam is still a high experimental feature and I can't believe either Bethesda or Steam are sure about how it will work out of the "technological" level, for that is what it is, not a tech problem but a marketing and or public relation issue. What I mean is probably is not CK itself which is delaying things.

The CK is tightly tied with the game, so it is tied with the patches for all changes it can introduce but reflecting the changes into the CK is fairly easier than patching the game itself, so I still believe is the patch the reason for they waiting till the last moment before the green light for it to go. Each time such thing backfire is too much a headache for the company and everyone must be aware the 1.2 patch did them none good, actually did much harm. No wonder they want not any major issue popping out as soon 1.4 final is released and want everything sorted out the best possible, CK, patch, Steam integration and whatever.

Still in the guessing side, the patch and CK must have been put in the frozen state already at the second beta, what mean they will not introduce anything ever having small potential to affect what is already working, unless something game breaking arises, and then are only polishing whatever barb still remaining and pushing the testers to limit.

As with everyone else it's all speculations but at least is the speculation from someone who has some experience with that kind of problem.

PS: Remember, this 1.4 is indeed the "first" patch worthy labeled so, all others were only so much needed hotfix and gross workaround to really nasty and game breaking issues. Meaning that rushing and hurrying them was not an issue. This newer they want to be more at the secure side.

I hate these threads. Not because of the discussions, but because I see the preview for the title in the forum index and think there's actual news regarding the creation kit. This thread even has a date in the title, so it was particularly misleading >_<
