Set player as essential?

I'm fairly sure it's not even remotely possible, but is there a way to set the player ( the lone wanderer ) as essential, so that when you die, instead of dying you are instead rendered unconscious and get up after a while ( probably to be immidietly stomped to death by whatever killed you in the first place ).

If that's impossible... next question. There was an afterlife mod I used in Oblivion, where instead of dying you went to an afterlife area, and could then be resureccted back into the regular game world. Is there anything vaguely like that for fallout 3?

Expecting some no answers... figured I'd ask though.

Yes, I tested it and got the same thing.. I tried various console commands to get the player up on its feet, but with no success.

I am unsure on how to do this without the setessential command, maybe with a quest script that checks if the player has < 2 HP, and if he/she does, resethealth, disableplayercontrols, playidle (the one where the player is unconscious), wait a while, stop playing idle, enableplayercontrols.

this would be interesting be rescued by the misterius stranger like in Far Cry 2

Console command TIM, but there is a potential danger ... it does not stop death animation with certain "finish him" moves and you may start walking around without the head...

It should work, it is for "Toggle Immortal Mode" and I have used it myself once for testing purposes.

Notice it does not use explicit references, it must be typed alone, not something like player.tim or tim player (although I can't say how it affects the command).

I believe does not matter if is typed TIM or Tim or tim

Edit: repeating about the case of being beheaded while using this command, resort to a previous save game immediately, you got unlucky. Falling will not kill you anymore, just shake the dust and continue... another "strange" situation is if you are bitten by a dragon (also a finish move) since you may become stuck in the air, but in this case a simple quicksave and reload solved the issue.

Not sure what console commands you used, but I managed to get it to work. The way it works is counterintuitive though, so it might be why you didn't happen on it. I reproduced it several times in a row without any weird glitches.

Character gets knocked unconscious.

go to console type

player.setunconscious 1

player.setunconscious 0

player gets up at full health (or close to it. the player goes to full health when knocked unconscious, though they might be struck by projectiles or explosives that were allready in motion at the time)

As far as them looting me. In my earlier test, I basically walked into megaton and started shooting people. Dogmeat happened to have been waiting there, so after I was unconscious the townspeople kept fighting Dogmeat. During their fight with dogmeat, they kept running up to me and doing a hand-swiping motion that I think may have been them looting me. Since I was unable to re-conscious myself, I couldn't open the pip boy to see if they had taken anything.

In the location where I figured this out just now, none of the npcs that unconscioused me tried to loot me, probably because after I was unconscious they went non-aggressive and just went back to wandering about doing what they do.
