Zemtriz
Hi,I would like to know how do I edit meshes from Skyrim in 3D Studio Max. Exactly I mean symmetrical editing of armor, clothes, etc.I know, that there is mirror function, but how do I need to configure it? Or another way in editing meshes? Any tutorials about editing meshes would be helpful. Thanks for replies.
Ghogiel
well the symmetry modifier is kinda what you are looking for. It works for what you want. but it doesn't live update like if you had half the mesh and instance mirror clone it. < which you wouldn't want to do if you are editing vanilla meshes that have been UVed and you want that to be intact... let alone morphs. Saying that symmetry is a dangerous modifier for morphs anyway, because if you aren't working on only half a mesh you want that slice option ticked, which I am pretty sure sounds like a vert index reordering waiting to happen. there are ways, you can do funky things with skinwrap and a mirror instanced clone on meshes you modified only one side of, to end up getting both sides modified without reordering the vertex number order. Zemtriz
Thanks for answer, but now I need to know how to remove one "texture" from previous object. For example: I've used one object and then imported something on it from another object. Lets say, that I've used steel armor and attached something on it from iron armor. :DYes, the "upgraded" armor is as one object, but in nifskope, there are two NiTriShape blocks. Can I somehow fix it, to get it as one NiTriShape block for a my whole one armor? Thanks. EDIT: Got it. but still any methods will be fine to hear.My solution: In 3ds max, pressed m, there material and get all scene materials and pressing delete on bubbles from copied shape. Then after exporting nif and looking on it with nifskope, the extra copied material didn't show up. Anyway I still have to fix problem with Dismemberment :( Edited February 3, 2012 by Zemtriz
jimhsu
Push/Pull can also be used symmetrically, which works wonders for conforming body meshes to armor, and vice versa.
Ghogiel
actually disregard what I said about not live updating, I knew this when I typed that, but was brain farting or something, but there ia a little box just below the modifier stack> show end result.
Zemtriz
Thanks for replies. Maybe Dismemberment will solve a small plugin for 3ds max called "so much monsters". :D Edit: Didn't use somuchmorpher and it worked now. I do not know why it worked, but it didn't crashed at exporting nif file... So I do not have currently any problems. :D I will write, if I will need anything. thanks for your help. :) Edited February 10, 2012 by Zemtriz
