Spring Cleaning vs Scrap Everything

For what it's worth, I wondered the same thing. I ran into a mod limit and started looking at what I had. Spring Cleaning just wasn't cutting it for me, switched to Scrap Everything and had no issues.

I used Spring Cleaning for quite a while and the only real reason I switched to Scrap Everything is because Spring Cleanng doesn't seem to be getting updated any more for the game updates and DLCs. Scrap Everything works great and gets rid of (like it says) Everything - dead bodies and all. Be careful with it though, especially in Vault 88. I got scrap-happy with it and scrapped a hole in the cavern and messed up the whole thing. The authors have an update for Scrap Everything that makes it less robust in places like that, so I upgraded Scrap Everything, loaded an old save and I was good to go again. Scared the heck out of me until I realized what I'd done. I though the DLC was trashed. He, he

Last I heard, Spring Cleaning was no longer being supported. Scrap Everything is very powerful and works just fine for me - almost too well... Make sure you quicksave regularly because it is very easy to scrap stuff that you don't want to scrap.

Scrap Everything scraps things like hedges, large trees, rocks, molerat tunnels and bodies of dead raiders.

and the cavern roof and walls in Vault 88, if you're not careful. He, he Use the DLC neutral version to be save.

This may be a minor necro, but I was looking for this myself and thought I'd share my experience with Scrap Everything.

Scrap Everything does not change Navmesh (pathways that tell npc where they can walk) so if you delete an existing settlement house and replace it with one of your own, it's a good idea to put your new doorway where the original one was, etc. Otherwise your settlers walk around, bumping into walls, etc.

FYI, If you were using Scrap Everything and then remove the mod, most (all?) items that normally could not have been scrapped without the mod, will come back as it was before. So if you scrap the shack at Finch Farm, and remove the mod, the shack will reappear as if nothing happened.

A new Optional File available on the Scrap Everything DL page, fixes the old problem where you couldn'd place new beds in "The Castle" (alcoves) and certain pre-existing settlement houses, such as Somerville Place and the first floor of Taffington Boathouse and more. Make sure to get that optional file.

When using Scrap Everything...go slowly and save often.

PSA: For anyone who doesn't know, removing mods mid-game is a bad idea. It's probably worth your time to research "why".

From My experience with them, Spring cleaning has some compatibility issues with anything that changes cells in settlements that can't easily be fixed due to Spring cleaning being marked as an esm so it forces itself to the top of your load order. Scrap everything has no issues as long as you keep is toward the bottom of your load order, plus it allows scraping of even more things.
