babis8142
Well anyone that hates Steam could always buy the game for some console. Oh now I remember, they like mods. Well shame. It's either mods and Steam or console and no mods. For some reason Bethesda decided to release only a Steam version of Skyrim nothing we can do about it. Well except for nagging about it in forums which will solve nothing. It'll make you feel better knowing there are other like you but that's it

Well except for nagging about it in forums which will solve nothing. It'll make you feel better knowing there are other like you but that's it How arrogant of you. Not only do I prefer to play on PC and built a new PC so it could handle Skyrim, I also have a physical disability, affecting my hands, which makes console button mashing extremely difficult. It's why I hated Skyrim's original UI because it was clearly designed for console (indeed Skyrim's UI was roundly caned by a site for gamers with disabilities...it seems that consoles are not very popular with us arthritics...). You also seem to forget that for optimal game performance most PC gamers either manually kill as many extraneous processes as possible, or use something like Game Boost that does it for you. It therefore goes against the grain to have to have one running to play your game. People are also concerned about software that data mines and Steam and Origin are top of the hit list, people do not like being invaded. They also do not like the fact that Steam is a law unto itself and will ignore your configuration settings when it chooses. Make sure brain is engaged before putting digits into gear and insulting fellow members. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Steam and resent having it shoved down your throat. And people are entitled to state them.
babis8142
Can you get rid of Steam? That's all I'm saying. Bethesda chooses to ignore you and everyone else that hates Steam. You can complain all you want but Bethesda will never release a non-Steam Skyrim. And if you hate Steam so much, not you in particular because you have a problem which I didn't know about, but others could buy the game for some console. Or buy it for PC because they like mods and deal with Steam and any problems it causes to them

What you are suggesting is getting freedom of choice by giving up freedom of choice. :wallbash: :psyduck:
daventry
My word, where it takes me normally to Download a Patch (depends on Size) 30 minutes or an Hour to Download, this Steam way took from 8am this Morning and its Still Downloading witch is now 96% at 34kb per speed and it will probably be done by 8pm. :psyduck: Steam Sucks Bad :wallbash: Edited February 2, 2012 by daventry
babis8142
I just want people to stop complaining about something that can't change? Freedom of choice? What freedom of choice? I understand your need for freedom of choice but in the case of Skyrim, there is no choice. It's either Steam + Skyrim or no Steam. How am I wrong? I know that some of you don't like Steam, I understand and I'm with you (or some of you) but what will complaining change?

I downloaded the patch this morning and it only took about 5 mins at about 600kb per second..think you might need to look at your internet connection. Thoreai
I just want people to stop complaining about something that can't change? What you want doessent really matter, you have no right to tell others what to do. For example the freedom to choose if i let steam update my game or not, what is the offline mode good for when it still forces updates on you, you are completely missing the point others are trying to make.Complaining wont change anything, but do you think you will change anything by complaining about others complaining, if you come here and tell others you dont like they complain be prepared they are going to defend themselfs, no matter what you think. In the last dayes i see many people who are happy with the game and happy with steam jumping on anyone who isnt thinking so, i ask myself when they are so happy, why they even bother to come and write that, when they see it as unnecessary...whats the point if not pushing your views upon others...you could just simply ignore them and be happy. ManiacMinion
I have this scenario. I downloaded something (not exactly sure the size) but nothing changed in-game. It sill shows the 1.13 version of Skyrim. When I update the SKSE it says "You must have the most recent version of Skyrim" which obviously tells me the patch hasn't downloaded. Any thoughts? I have Steam set to "auto update" as well...
