Just tried to start it and steam have download some sort of update - now my launcher tells me my game is not supported and refuses to start.

What the hell is going on?????????????

script extender I believe

SKSE won't be compatible with the new patch until its updated, so you'll have to launch the game through the launcher the conventional way. If you're using something like Skyboost, remove its files from the Skyrim directory folder. Also make sure you finish the update before trying to start the game.

Hi again

- questions still remian but if it is of any use "ScriptDragon" is the culprit in my case.

I have removed all the .asi's associated and the game has at least started. Don't yet know what will be affected but i'll come back on that one.

Hope this helps.

That makes sense. I've never used it so I wouldn't have been much help there. The latest BETA version of SKSE works with the new patch, and in place of SkyBoost I'm using TESVAL (which uses SKSE) for now. So for me, SKSE + TESVAL + Stutter Remover mod = great fps at the moment. That's what I would recommend until things get updated.

edit: That is, if you're looking for performance boost like me :P

edit 2: ah sorry, just found out the TESVAL doesn't work with the beta version of SKSE. So disregard what I said.

First, identify if you are running the stable patch or the beta. To do so, at least provisionally remove or rename the files related to dragon script so you can launch the game directly from the Steam interface (bypassing skse case you have it too). Once in game press the Esc key and take note of the numbers you see at the menu bottom left.

If the number is 1.3.10 you have the stable version, otherwise it should be 1.4.21...

Now the hard part... Alexander already stated in his page he will not update Script Dragon until the beta phase is over, I can't blame him. What mean no Dragon script will work for the beta and least yet the plugins for it.

SKSE was already updated to the last beta patch and if is the case you need to download and install it. THEN ... you can keep SkyUI if using it but for Categorized menu you'll need the 1.8.2 version, the 1.9.1 will not allow you ever entering the game. Another mod Must be disabled "Container Categorization" till it being update too.

Play the game from skse loader, good luck.

Follows some technical information that can be securely skipped :)

A word of advice to those reading this post. Most the issues happens to utilities that "hooks" directly to the game executable or to dlls that exe is supposed to load (this last is the case of Script dragon and the first is the case of SKSE). Still, these utilities have "plugins" attached to themselves and so they are vulnerable to version changing, both in the utility itself as in the game. This mean the versions must match in all, the game itself, the utilities and the plugins for these utilities (the difference must be understood).

When CK is out and SKSE finally integrates with it, the result is "mods" will come from it and not plugins, I mean, they will be exactly like the vanilla ESPs only than of course using (some) functions the vanilla engine would not "understand" without SKSE. The advantages of this approach are obvious, and the backward compatibility is greatly enhanced, meaning a mod made for a previous version of SKSE still works with the newer, the contrary is not always true but one needs to update only SKSE and not all mods based on it.

Even the actual situation is understandable the plugins being so sensible to patches in the game for the affected ones are those which "directly" changes the engine mechanics, like the UI itself, or perk points which can't be done otherwise by now.
