could be some of those mods. have the mod creaters added updates for 1.4 yet? if not try deleting skyboost and skyrim performence plus (not sure about that one, however skyboost has had issues with this patch from what i hear).

not sure how those performence mod work, i don't use em. it might. if they're dll plugin type mods then they need to be removed.

I'm also having frequent crashes with the new patch. CTD a couple of times per hour plus now I sometimes get hangups during loading scenes. Game was totally stable under the old patch - bummer...

There have been too many bad reports on the new 1.4 patch. That is why I have not updated my version from 1.3 and most likely won't for a while. Seems this patch is doing the same damage as the 1.2 patch did.

Sometimes it is better to wait than to jump right in. I keep my Stream in offline mode so it won't update. Glad I did. Also I feel that the performance mods may be adding to the issue. I have never seen so many problems with patches in my gaming experience. Beth soft works have made a mess of things in my opinion. Of course lets not leave out Stream. Beth forces players to use Steam to play Skyrim for the money not the piracy issue.

If Skyrim would have been a stand alone game I am sure a lot of the problems folks are experiencing would not be happening. My example would be Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Those patches never caused the problems the Skyrim patches are causing. Oh well folks can complain all they want but to play Skyrim you are stuck.

Actually the 1.4 is good but many utilities and plugins not yet updated makes the game unstable, that's a problem common to whenever the game is not yet stabilized and in this case aggravated because most utilities and plugins are done without the CK, based on DLLs and then tightly tied with versions.

It's not with the patch the problem, for me it is working very well.

Yep..

Enforced updates are not the problem... Why, for weeks I never even had a single hiccup, crash, nor hangup -nor an issue one- UNTIL 1.4 was shoved down my purchased program's code loving throat by Steam's wonderfully thoughtful and convenient Overlord system. Forget to play in "offline mode" one time... and pfffft! Now I've got 99 problems.. not just one - and Bethesda's FAST losing a longtime fan who's been strong on them since he (really REALLY) patiently loaded a whole fistful of 3.5 inch diskettes into his computer just to play that first game of Arena. It's just sooo nice when partnered firms can wash their hands, point at each other, and blithely suggest every problem is ONLY because of ourselves and/or the other guy!

If there were a way to incite a full blown divorce between Bethesda and Steam I'd be the johnny on the spot to start it. What a pathetic weasily disaster this "marriage" I'm forced to be part of (if I actually want to play the game I spent my hard earned capital on) is now looking more and more like every time I try to play Skyrim.

Being forced to reboot my system just about every single time a totally random hangup occurs during some loading screen or other is sure a mighty fun and entirely enthralling way to enjoy the heck out of Skyrim! To heck with Las Vegas, rolling dice, and slot-machines.. THIS is REAL excitement!! I can barely contain myself waiting for the next new and improved "trick" Steamthesda pulls out of their collective.. er.. hats and forces me to udate Skyrim with so as to even further enhance this new and wonderful gaming experience I've now discovered.

Ah well.. sour grapes(!).. I suppose I'm just upset I was forced to live without this sort of all-encompassing "convenience" for so so long. Too bad users with these new problems can't just "update" back to their working versions of Skyrim without Steam throwing an Overlord of All Games conniption-fit.

Well, the forced update I shun as well, still the problems some are experimenting with the 1.4.21 patch aren't due to it. There is no guilt in this actually for "these" are troubled times (I hope I could say were) both for the developers and the modders. Changes coming at fast pace, need to update every plugin which someway is tied with the game version or utility it was created (SKSE, Script Dragon...)

Is in the sum of all these factors the instability lies, the reason for the crashes. Everything MUST be at the same version level so at least a reasonable stability can be granted.

the game is still glitchy. i run a clean version of skyrim, but i freeze up every 1minute or so, then it stops responding. :wallbash:

the only positive ting about the patch is the cleanups of the bottlenecks in the game.
