Astralepid
So to starts off I'm not the most knowledgeable in modding, so I might be missing something obvious. So yesterday I decided to Fallout 3 again just for nostalgia along with a bunch of overhauling and mods installed to refreshen the experience. I installed a bunch of mods, around 50, checking every so often by relaunching it to make sure it still functions. It was going fine until a couple of hours ago when I got "click happy" on the Nexus and decided to download about 20 mods and install them all. Now, the game crashes on start, usually crashing within the first 5 seconds of the "PLEASE STAND BY" screen loading. So I went back and disabled The previous mods I just installed, kept crashing. Then I used LOOT to verify the files and resort the plugins. Everything was fine, so the program said, and upon inspection of the load order, nothing seemed out of place, still crashed. So then I disabled all the plugins besides the base game and DLC and it's still crashing on startup, does anybody know what's going on? P.S. I'll post my load order when I get home, I'm writing this in my spare time between classes
gromulos
Sounds like you're missing a master file for 1 of your mods as a crash at start up is a key culprit of that, try my guide and do ALL of it STEP by STEP and let me know if you need more help :) https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2247384-fallout-3-beginners-guide-to-modding/
Astralepid
I'll be sure to try it. I'll let you know how it's works out, thanks.
M48A5
Do not use LOOT to sort your load list. It does not sort Fallout 3 mods correctly. If you must use a program to sort your mods, use B.O.S.S. http://boss-developers.github.io/ You should follow the advice given here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/652876-fallout-3-modding-and-you/
gromulos
Do not use LOOT to sort your load list. It does not sort Fallout 3 mods correctly. If you must use a program to sort your mods, use B.O.S.S. http://boss-developers.github.io/ While that may or may not be true I can tell you from personal experience LOOT works just fine for me with FO3, FONV, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, and FO4. In FO3 i am currently running 54 mods and some of them are large or have multiple ESP's like TailorMaid, AWOP, Fellout, or RHIronsights and have had ZERO problems. Astralepid
I used BOSS as well, but half of the mods said it didn't recognize it and it also said there wasn't any issues with the load order. Anyways, I'm trying to install Wyre Flash and the logs when i launch the executable keeps saying this: Traceback (most recent call last): File "Wrye Flash Launcher.pyw", line 32, in <module> File "bash\bash.pyo", line 334, in main File "bash\basher.pyo", line 15572, in InitLinks File "bash\basher.pyo", line 14625, in InitStatusBar File "bash\bosh.pyo", line 12072, in __init__ File "bash\bosh.pyo", line 12101, in refreshbash.bolt.BoltError: Data\Bash Patches\taglist.txt could not be found. Please ensure Wrye Flash is installed correctly. i put the Mopy folder in the FO3 directory, not sure whats going on. M48A5
Your load list is an absolute mess and needs to be corrected. Read the advice from the link I posted previously and you will obtain a stable game.
Astralepid
I understand that, by why is the problem persisting after all plugins are disabled? plugins being a mess aside, I need the game to function without any additions, nevermind all of them activated just sorted differently. Deleted21304489User
First, you're making the mistake that most people new to modding make. You're trying to inject every mod under the sun into your load order, before you actually know what you're doing. I recommend reading the description page for each mod that you download, so that you have some understanding of what it does and how it will interact with other mods. Second, understand what load order actually means... it's all about conflicts between mods. If you have conflicts, then your load order will be unstable and cause things like stutter and crashing. The best way to get the proper load order, is to use FO3Edit and run a conflict report. This will help you get your load order correct. Doing anything else is just a guessing game. BOSS will only sort mods that have been reported. BOSS is no longer updated unfortunatley. DO NOT use LOOT to sort FO3. If you don't believe that... then let LOOT sort your load order and then run a conflict report with FO3Edit. Your jaw will hit your keyboard. It will gen more fatal conflicts than you could probably do on your own. Enough said. There is a simple to read and understand tutorial on FO3Edit, here on the Nexus. I recommend understanding how to use this program before even attempting to mod your game. That's just me though. Good luck Edited April 7, 2017 by ejroberts49
gromulos
when you open the Zip file, there should have been TWO folders, MOPY and DATA, you HAVE to copy both folders into the same folder that has Fallout3.EXE in it which for me is - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 goty Also, you can NOT install Wrye using a mod manager / organizer. It HAS to be dragged and dropped into the correct location from the zip.
