xxcomrad3xx
Hello all, im currently new to system building and such but i was wondering if any one could hook me up with parts that could make a desktop in the 600 dollar range? ive looked around and had a build but i asked someone about it and nothing was compatible really or good enough for my taste lol :P so i discarded it quite some time ago :( so if someone could maybe give me some parts or direct me a little? thatd help a ton! i want a computer i can run games like fallout nv, skyrim etc on without worrying about hardware difficulties..preferablly able to run them on high..doesnt have to be ultra but if it works it works.. im not willing to spend over a thousand though so preferablly at most 800.. thanks to any that assist! FMod
Check out this thread: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/549636-time-for-a-new-pc/He's spending about $500, that doesn't include a case, so $550-600 would be closer to the total. For $800 you can get a more powerful system with P67 and i5-2320, or rather invest more in the GPU. If you play Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout3/NV a lot (i.e. half your gaming time and will stay that way), go for i3-2130, it's only 2-core (with hyperthreading though), but two fast cores. xxcomrad3xx
Hello, i know its been quite sometime since ive posted here since ive been training for the military but thank you for the link. So far ive read everything and tried to take from it all i know, granted im not as indepth tech saavy as yourself i did pick up on some things, and this is my list ive made so far, i dont know if it will work together, its essentially his list, but i just want you to verify it should play fallout with no problems (+mods).. and any ways i could upgrade it, im not looking to go over more then 600 though which might i add is still a bit much for me, as i think 500 dollars at this point is all i can spare. In total this all cost 498 dollars. so heres the list, Samsung by Seagate Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ/ST500DM005 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive ASRock A75 EXTREME6 FM1 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS ASUS HD7750-1GD5-V2 Radeon HD 7750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card SAMSUNG 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model MV-3V4G3D/US Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT51264BD1339 COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 Continuous Direct Contact 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler Compatible with latest Intel ... Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) thank you for any responses!! what i notice. first off you have 2 RAMs listed. if you counted both in your final total, well, take one out (whichever is more expensive) because thats ~$45 you dont need to spend lol. also i noticed you have an FM1 board, but not FM1 CPU listed. so if you forgot to list it thats one thing. but if you forgot about it completely, well thats going to add to your total. lastly, you have an SSD listed. for such an inexpensive build, you might want to consider putting that money into a GPU. an SSD can always be added later, so if your cap is $500, take the money and put it to a GPU or CPU. then down the road be it 6 months or a year later, you can buy an SSD. just a suggestion though. xxcomrad3xx
ah ok, i wasnt sure why i needed that much. the guy on his form said it was backup ram, but honestly i should be fine ith just 8gb id think.. and for the FM1 CPU, i always get confused with gpu's cpu's and what they are.. hence my blatant lack of beginner-ness.. but i think i just forgot to add it in, this is my CPU i had picked outAMD Athlon II X4 631 Propus 2.6GHz Socket FM1 100W Quad-Core Desktop Processor AD631XWNGXBOX..... unfortunately newegg is out of them so i really dont know what to do there :( so scratch the SSD, and put it towards? CPU? you mean what i have picked out...im confused..sorry edit: i found (AMD Athlon II X4 631 2.6GHz 4x1 MB L2 Cache Socket FM1 100W Quad-Core Desktop Processor - Retail AD631XWNGXBOX) on amazon, don't know if there is a difference between the two, but just thought id let you know. hoofhearted4
yea, no need for 16gb RAM, and esp 16gb RAM from two different manufacturers. yes Drop the SSD and take that money and either put it into your pocket, or buy a more expensive (better) CPU or GPU. xxcomrad3xx
So here is my list so far: Seagate Barracuda Green ST1000DL002 1TB 5900 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Bare Drive -Bare Drive ASRock A75 EXTREME6 FM1 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS ASUS HD7750-1GD5-V2 Radeon HD 7750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT51264BD1339 COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 Continuous Direct Contact 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler Compatible with latest Intel ... And i had Athlon II x4 631 for my cpu but newegg is out of them.. SO, Does anyone have any suggestions for a similar CPU or better? Also If you could give me any recommendations for a cheap compatable case thatd be great aswell...thank you for any responses or suggestions ! (hopefully this is everything i need) i have no idea what kind of cables ill need
FMod
edit: i found (AMD Athlon II X4 631 2.6GHz 4x1 MB L2 Cache Socket FM1 100W Quad-Core Desktop Processor - Retail AD631XWNGXBOX) on amazon, don't know if there is a difference between the two, but just thought id let you know. That is the same 631 all right. For alternatives - 631, 641 and 651K are the same CPU at different stock clock. If you're not a skilled overclocker, 651K is best because it's easier to overclock, it's also best if you are a skilled overclocker, because it clocks a bit better. Nonetheless, 631 and 641 are cheaper and close in performance. While these CPU are a bargain as it is, overclocking is a must for all to extract full performance. For instance, 631 is clocked at just 2.6 GHz, while its real capability is more like 3.3-3.6 GHz; that's +25%..+40% performance for free. They are 32nm, so power consumption remains low. Seagate Barracuda Green ST1000DL002 1TB 5900 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Bare Drive -Bare Drive Better go back to Samsung. Seagate has a few plastic parts in their heads unit that sometimes wear out and reduce the drive's reliability.

Sarissi
I avoid overclocking. Rendering an animation (26 - 30 fps) places enough stress on the CPU.
