Hey guys I have a question. Is it possible to make mod for New Vegas for isometric view and camera control? I'm not talking about FPP or TPP but isometric view with possiblity rotate camera 360. Is that possible make New Vegas more similar to first games?

No.

Simply, the game is not set up for that, and there is no method of interaction with the game that allows a static isometric camera. You can make the third person camera pull out farther, but what you're asking for is not really doable.

Sorry, it's a Bethesda game, which means it's a 1st person role playing game that you can look at your character in 3rd person with.

Got me thinking of a really roundabout solution of using an NPC as a stand-in for the player, mirroring all their stats and being commanded with some kind of GUI solution like JIP CC&C. "The Camera" would just be the actual Player Character's viewpoint; the Cinematic Camera Mod by Devilswish would be a good starting point.

That sounds really difficult and not really worth it by itself, but then you'd get in to the joy of completely reworking combat AI.

No need to set an npc as the player camera ... just use the player themselves.

Use a jet pack mod as what moves the player , and disable 3rd person view while flying.

Also set them as ghost while flying so as not to draw aggro , if wanting that to be part of the isometric view option. Plus could set them to only fly at certain height if not wanting z changes.

I've been working on a fallout 3 mod that is going to do this ... but I must admit I am not to the point of flying the player yet.

But I know it is possible because of this mod ...

Does anybody know how to set the 3rd person zoom out say 3-4 times further than default does ... as mentioned in the thread. My little bit of checking and testing , was not able to accomplish it.

Add edit: Oh wait ... you mean an npc as a stand in for the player , stays on the ground ? Which I don't see how you could have active control over them. But could set AI packages telling them what to do , while you the player flew above. Which is what I have been working on for my mod ... but commanding multiple npc's. Basically trying to simulate a StarCraft / Warcraft experience . With the player representing a hero character for on the ground interaction in first / third person. Maybe some limited combat interaction while flying. But mostly for unit command.

And how I am going to select a unit for command issue , is to shoot them with a special weapon to bring up message buttons.

But with only commanding the player stand in , would be more easily done , and maybe with dialogue options a better solution ?

Well that is pretty fricken cool , and sorta makes me want to base my mod on FNV just to get that kind of HUD control. But not enough to actually scrap what I've done and start over.

So maybe for future installments , or if the concept becomes popular enough for others to do it with FNV. That is if I finally get a playable vs done

But as you can see , that mod is still based on controlling their AI , and most likely through packages.

So no active control as in what you the player can do to control your character in real time , as if the npc was your char in 3rd person.

But I myself don't really see that as a problem ... just switch back to ground mode for things requiring the micro management of player controls.
